Pharmacist Nature of Work

Pharmacists supply, dispense and manufacture medicines and drugs in hospitals and community pharmacies, and advise on their appropriate use. Pharmacists also conduct research into the formulation, production, storage, quality control and distribution of medicines and drugs.

Pharmacists work in clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated areas. Pharmacists are employed in community and hospital pharmacies, or they may be self-employed.

  • select, give advice on and supply non-prescription medicine, sickroom supplies and other products
  • work in the research and development of medicines and other health-related products
