Electronic Resume Writing Guide
The Electronic Resume is
Contemporary the Most Powerful Resume
The standard resume, no matter how effectively prepared, written or presented, is no longer adequate to meet the demands of electronic scanning and electronic applicant screening & tracking. A new resume style, utilizing keywords and phrases , has developed.
The electronic resume, often called a keyword resume, must contain an adequate description of the job seeker's characteristics and industry specific experience presented in keyword terms in order to accommodate the electronic and/or computer process.
It is a completely new way of writing a resume.
The emphasis is on stand-alone nouns. For example use the words "manager" or "B. A." instead of the phrases and action verbs we stress in traditional resumes, such as "managed a department" or "successfully earned B. A.".
More "skills and facts = keywords" you provide, the more
"opportunities = hits" you will match or generate.
Electronic resumes are designed to be emailed, to be uploaded through the Internet, to be scanned, to be computer friendly and to produce hits (a hit is when one of your skills matches the computer search key word or phrase), not necessary for visual appearance or to be read by humans.
A CV is similar to a resume in that it provides more details about one’s professional qualifications, experience and education. However, the term "Curriculum Vitae" most often called CV, typically carries a different meaning depending on whether one distribute the CV within the US, Canada or internationally (external to the US or Canada) or is seeking a faculty, academic, research, clinical or scientific position.
You can turn your current CV into a resume by shortening some descriptions of your educational and professional experiences.
