At a time when others had difficulties operating within budget, my people not only reduced their operating costs, they did so while improving their performance. Placed a personal investment in subordinates and improved their performance. Established and directed the District’s Safety Council and Information Technology Steering Committee. Led the District effort to promote telework, linking it to the unit’s Continuity of Operations Plan and oversaw the Capable Workforce Program to retain and recruit talent. Served as President of the Kansas City Chapter of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). Successfully hosted the National SAME Convention and won the Grand Slam Chapter Award.  Chaired Kansas City’s very successful annual Day of Caring.

Provided quality engineering through supervision of the Master Plan, new construction, and maintenance and repair of facilities for 26,000 soldiers, DA civilian employees, and family members who work and live on an installation of 101,000 acres. Simultaneously handled a commercial analysis of my organization, a privatization study of housing operations, implementation of activity-based costing, daily mission requirements, and year-end fiscal close out.  Winner of Tree CityUSA and the Army Energy Conservation Awards.

Established a Gateway-to-Kuwait training program and a 4-year master plan for maintenance/improvements to numerous programs. Considered a key leader in Kuwait for support of units arriving in support of combat, logistical, and administrative operations within theater.
