We are seeking a Quality & Audit Coordinator to uphold quality measures within our awarding organisation (AO). The Quality & Audit Coordinator ensures Ofqual regulations are met and company policies and processes have been followed. They embody a quality-first approach, promoting good practice to ensure assessments are delivered to the highest standard. Their keen eye for detail and supportive approach makes them a valued partner to both internal and external stakeholders.  

 

Duties 

  • Support the Quality & Compliance team  
  • Audit compliance of assessment project word counts  
  • Support onboarding of assessors/IQAs/invigilators  
  • Standardisation meetings: Managing a calendar of standardisation meetings, and managing the administration of these  
  • Support standardisation sessions  
  • Support other departments as necessary  
  • Manage IQA allocations and tracking  
  • Respond to ad hoc assessor & IQA queries  
  • Review adherence to SLAs, escalating issues as needed  
  • Check and preparing Statement of Results  
  • Monitor Quality inbox and respond to queries  
  • Manage timely certificate claims  
  • Support the training and onboarding of new team members  
  • Analyse data for patterns and trends 
  • Review & contribute to standardisation delivery  
  • Manage and oversee the sampling strategy  
  • Carry out reviews of completed assessments such as knowledge tests  
  • Schedule and carry out observations of IQA and assessment  
  • Support Centres (anticipated Q4 2026 onwards): deliver initial Centre training, develop and implement supportive action plans; Carry out field visits (expected between 1-4 visits in first year)  
  • Log and escalate any concerns of complaints/malpractice  
  • Other duties as required  

 

Person specification

Essential:  

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in either an awarding organisation (AO), end point assessment organisation (EPAO), or training provider  
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience in a quality, audit, or compliance role  
  • Understanding of the apprenticeships landscape  
  • Knowledge of Ofqual General Conditions of Recognition, and applying these in practice 
  • Understanding of indicators of risk within assessment and within Centres/training providers  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Confidence to challenge constructively while maintaining positive working relationships  
  • Able to accurately document information and maintain audit trails.  
  • Excellent people skills  
  • Great attention to detail and high level of accuracy  
  • Supportive approach, able to influence others to adopt correct ways of working  
  • Able to handle challenging conversations using tact and care, maintaining positive working relationships with both internal and external parties  
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities  

  

Desirable:  

  • Safeguarding qualification or experience 
  • Up to date expertise in at least one of our subject areas, e.g. business admin, digital, leadership  
  • Data and technology skills (Office 365, Excel, PowerBI, automation tools)  
  • Have or willing to work towards a relevant qualification

  • 1st for Awarding remains compliant with regulation and own policies and processes  
  • Regular audits are carried out, and results reported on  
  • Risks are identified in advance so mitigations can be put in place  
  • Effective standardisation across the business/assessors/standards/etc  
  • Your work helps drive high-quality outcomes and continuous improvement  
  • You’re a trusted go-to person within your team and beyond. The Quality & Audit department is seen as a critical friend across the business; approachable and willing to advise where needed  
  • You contribute ideas and escalate issues as necessary to improve systems or ways of working  
  • Data, tools and systems are used accurately and effectively.
