Our team is responsible for the infrastructure and operations of all production systems supporting consumers, developers, and customer account services under the 2K label. With systems and services spanning both on-premise and cloud-based data centers, we ensure the backend stays up and running so players can enjoy an uninterrupted gaming experience. We’re looking for a collaborative and proactive engineer who’s ready to make an impact from Austin and beyond.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Lead by example in live service monitoring, incident response, and service restoration across 2K's global game platforms.
- →Act as the primary technical escalation point for the TOC team, leading and coordinating the technical response during high-severity incidents to ensure rapid service recovery.
- →Partner closely with Infrastructure, SRE, and Development teams to define shared operational goals, improve system observability, and drive the delivery of robust, high-availability services.
- →Refine, document, and champion TOC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Runbooks, ensuring alignment, transparency, and consistent execution of operational processes across all shifts.
- →Establish, enforce, and technically audit operational best practices across the engineering organization, ensuring deployment processes, service configuration, and monitoring strategies meet the highest standards for service health and stability.
- →Mentor and coach junior TOC engineers, providing technical guidance and direction to ensure effective execution, skill development, and professional growth within the team.
- You have 5+ years of experience in high-volume Technical Operations, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Network Operations Center (NOC) environments, with 2+ years leading major Incident Management efforts or Technical Operations teams.
- You have deep technical expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), live service operations, and system monitoring-either as an escalation point or a hands-on technical lead.
- You have a deep understanding and hands-on experience with VMware technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter), particularly in an enterprise environment supporting high-availability services.
- You demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. You build trust quickly, communicate complex technical issues clearly during high-pressure incidents, and effectively coordinate across technical and non-technical audiences.
- You are passionate about developing high-performing teams and fostering a culture of operational rigor, continuous improvement, and blameless post-mortems.
- You are adept at navigating high-pressure, real-time incidents in a complex live-service environment, relying on incomplete data and expert judgment to initiate rapid service restoration.
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred, ideally in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. An advanced technical degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, SRE, Cloud Infrastructure) is a plus.
- And most of all you have a passion for games and the technology that powers them.

Extensive experience integrating monitoring platforms (e.g., Splunk, Datadog, Grafana) with incident management and notification systems (e.g., PagerDuty, Opsgenie) to enable automated alerting and response orchestration.
