Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take full ownership of the complete payroll cycle for our locations in Quebec and Ontario. You will also oversee the governance of all related activities, including source deductions, remittances to various government agencies, accounting reconciliations, as well as the production of monthly financial reports and wage declarations.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Process bi-weekly payroll for Quebec and Ontario employees, ensuring the accurate and timely execution of the entire payroll cycle.
- →Manage new hires and update employee files (configuring earnings codes, source deductions, pension plans, and employee-specific deductions).
- →Manage and generate federal and provincial reports (source deductions, government remittances for Quebec, Ontario, and other Canadian provinces).
- →Produce annual tax slips (T4, RL-1, T4A, etc.).
- →Verify and approve timesheets.
- →Enter accounting journals, calculate month-end costs, and balance general ledgers.
- →Reconcile payroll entries with the general accounting system.
- →Produce tip tax credit reports for Quebec locations.
- →Produce monthly wage declarations for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) of Ontario.
- →Issue Records of Employment (ROE) and manage government documentation related to Employment Insurance.
- →Generate payroll reports for Management and Finance.
- →Manage deductions related to group insurance plans, RRSPs, taxable benefits, sick leave, etc.
- →Execute all related payroll and accounting tasks.
- →Collaborate regularly with Human Resources and Operations.
- →Propose process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll.
- 2 years of experience in a payroll lead or manager role.
- Experience in the restaurant industry is an asset.
- PCP (PCP - Payroll Compliance Professional) and/or PLP (PLP - Payroll Leadership Professional) certification is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and autonomy.
- High level of rigor and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines.
- Discretion and strict adherence to confidentiality.
