Site Lead, Children & Family Empowerment

Contract term: Immediate start through March 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension based on performance.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Site Lead provides hands-on leadership and quality support across children and family program sites. The role works alongside Youth Facilitators to ensure safe, engaging, inclusive, and consistent delivery of established program activities, including STEM, arts and crafts, literacy, physical activity, outdoor play, and social-emotional and social-skills development.

A key focus of this position is supporting children’s development and strengthening family engagement. The Site Lead works with Youth Facilitators and families to support children’s participation, social-emotional development, behavior, and overall program experience. The role also builds relationships with parents and caregivers, involves families in understanding and supporting their children’s progress, identifies family needs, organizes family activities and information sessions, and connects families with appropriate AHC and community resources.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead day-to-day program activities and overall coordination at assigned sites, ensuring smooth program operations and consistent implementation of established plans and procedures.

· Monitor program delivery across sites and provide hands-on support and coaching to Youth Facilitators.

· Support children with recurring or complex behavioral needs using positive behavior-management, de-escalation, and conflict-resolution strategies.

· Provide mentoring and practical training to Youth Facilitators and support consistent program and safety practices.

· Identify program gaps and implement or recommend practical improvements.

· Build relationships with parents and caregivers and engage them in supporting their children's participation, progress, and development.

· Identify family needs and connect families with appropriate internal and community programs and services.

· Organize family gatherings, information sessions, and other family engagement activities based on identified needs.

· Coordinate with school/site coordinators, host sites, and community partners regarding schedules, space, logistics, program activities, and routine operational needs.

· Support participant registration, attendance monitoring, documentation, reporting, and program evaluation.

· Maintain required program documentation and site records, and contribute to reporting, evaluation, and outcome tracking.

· Support program promotion, outreach, field trips, camps, and special events.

Qualifications

· Post-secondary education in Child and Youth Care, Education, Early Childhood Development, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Comparable education and relevant experience will be considered.

· Minimum 3 years of experience working directly with children or youth.

· Demonstrated experience supporting children with behavioural challenges and using positive behaviour-management and de-escalation strategies.

· Experience coaching, mentoring, or providing practical guidance to staff, volunteers, or peers.

· Experience engaging with parents and caregivers, particularly families from underserved communities or those facing barriers to accessing programs and supports.

· Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities, events, schedules, and deadlines.

· Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage participants from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.

· Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and online communication and recordkeeping tools.

· A current Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, and Intervention Record Check, completed within the previous six (6) months, is required.

· A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence, clean driver’s abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle are required, as regular travel to program and community locations throughout the greater Edmonton area is expected.

· First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.

Working Conditions

· Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend work required based on program activities and events.

· Primarily in-person office and community-based work

· Active work environment involving standing, walking, bending, setup and cleanup, movement of program supplies and participation in physical and outdoor activities.
