Responsibilities

→Performs routine and complex electroencephalogram (EEG) procedures, nerve conduction studies (NCV), evoked potential (EP) and others, depending on specialty area training.
→Demonstrates knowledge of the equipment operator's manual and calibration procedures. Identifies and corrects basic equipment issues when they occur.
→Performs Neurodiagnostic procedures using appropriate test strategy, electrode montage parameters, and calibration.
→Obtains all relevant information from the patient's medical record history and progress notes, and transfers this to the technologist's report.
→Adopts methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results, based on medical history, clinical observations, and diagnostic test findings.
→Adheres to the standards of practice for test recordings, as outlined by ABRET.
→Maintains complete and accurate record keeping, including history forms and archived records of clipped data.
→Assists with the technical operation of specialized Neurodiagnostic procedures including long term monitoring, evoked potentials, intraoperative neuromonitoring and others as appropriate in specialty area.
→Verbalizes and implements appropriate actions during the onset of a seizure, and other patient medical emergencies.
→Demonstrates proper infection control practices throughout all aspects of care.
→Ensures hazardous materials are properly used and stored.
→Provides preceptor supervision to new technologists and student interns.
→Participates in ordering and maintaining supplies for the department.
