At Aurora St. Luke's Medical, the Imaging Quality Specialist plays a key operational role supporting quality, compliance, education, accreditation, and workflow oversight across a large multi-modality Imaging department. This position partners closely with Imaging leadership, frontline teams, hospital quality departments, physicians, and system stakeholders to maintain regulatory readiness, improve processes, support teammate education, and drive department consistency.

Responsibilities include oversight of imaging quality and compliance initiatives, accreditation management for ACR/IAC/DHS standards, DNV survey preparation, audit development, quality dashboards, policy and procedure management, patient experience reporting, imaging quality metrics, and departmental quality improvement projects. This role also supports Zero Harm initiatives, safety event follow-up, environmental rounding, utilization reporting, and operational data analysis.

Serves as a central resource for Imaging education and onboarding activities, including new teammate orientation, competency development, annual education coordination, EPIC/Radiant workflow education, and ongoing maintenance of educational materials and department documentation. Additional responsibilities include management of licensure and credential tracking, shared department communication tools, workflow standardization efforts, and support for special operational projects.

Responsibilities

  • Advises management and medical staff on ways to enhance quality and implement safety initiatives to improve the diagnostic services and quality of care provided and meet compliance requirements. Establishes department specific policies that provide infrastructure to support quality and safety program.
  • Builds effective relationships at all levels of the organization to promote department quality and safety initiatives. Encourages open communication creating a positive culture that supports a patient safety-minded environment.
  • Devises, designs, and implements comprehensive quality improvement program to assure high-quality and cost effective care, in accordance with institutional mission, vision, and values.
  • Creates strategic plan to incorporate quality and safety goals through development of quality indicators and other mechanisms.
  • Prepares reports that summarize and evaluates quality indicators and other markers that describe progress in attaining department quality goals.
  • Drives incorporation of Joint Commission standards into department processes. Assumes primary role in Joint Commission ongoing preparedness, and facilitate department readiness.
  • Designs and facilitates the development of web-based online applications to automate administrative functions.
  • Researches industry standard, best practice and innovations in the field.
  • Educates staff through development, coordination, and implementation of annual staff education program.
  • Mentors department leadership in quality and safety issues, techniques, and philosophies.

  • Associate's Degree in Radiography or

  • Associate’s degree in Radiation Therapy
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in diagnostic services to include expertise in regulatory and accreditation practice standards and requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and oral presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with physicians and other professionals in a direct, positive manner.
  • Current working knowledge of Joint Commission standards and regulatory requirements impacting the profession.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
  • Knowledge of innovation in medical imaging technology, available safety-minded products, and contemporary practice issues and trends within medical imaging and related fields.
  • Possess strong analytical skills along with the ability to create charts and graphs using Excel and Word, and presentations using PowerPoint.
