Provides counseling and behavioral health support for patients within the Burn/Trauma Service. Delivers screenings, brief interventions, and psychoeducation to patients and caregivers while collaborating closely with the interdisciplinary care team to support recovery and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide cognitive and emotional support to patients in Trauma, BICU, and Burn units

  • Conduct screenings including PC-PTSD, CTSQ, AUDIT, and CAGE as appropriate

  • Deliver brief interventions and psychoeducation to patients and caregivers

  • Document sessions, screening results, and interventions in the medical record

  • Identify patient needs and coordinate referrals for post-discharge mental health services

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to address psychosocial factors impacting recovery

  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to communicate patient needs and care plans

  • Engage in clinical supervision to support skill development and case consultation

  • Support department research efforts, including conducting and transcribing patient interviews

  • Participate in burn survivor peer-support programming

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, or related field required

  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience required

  • Experience in crisis intervention or acute care settings preferred

  • Relevant credentials (e.g., LCAS, LCSW, LCMHC) are a plus but not required
