We have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Accountant in our Alameda, California location, supporting the Abbott Diabetes Care and Lingo divisions within the Corporate Financial Services (CFS) organization.
Responsible for assigned month-end closing activities, including, journal entry preparation, approval, account analysis, intercompany transfers and account reconciliations.
Provide guidance and support related to master data requests, accounting compliance and reporting to business partners.
Provide guidance and support to our offshore team.
Responsible for preparation of annual federal and state tax packages
Ensure compliance with SOX, internal controls, Abbott Corporate and division/department specific policies and procedures.
Provide support for internal and external audits
Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for assigned activities
Operate independently, be flexible in changing environment and challenge the status quo.
Support all Company initiatives and ad-hoc requests as identified by management.
Requirements
~2 min readBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. In lieu of a degree, additional years of experience may be considered.
4+ years relevant professional experience required or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required competencies.
Strong Microsoft skills, including use of pivot tables, vlookups and analysis of data using Excel
Requires knowledge of accounting regulations of operational accounting issues.
Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
Experience with large ERP system; SAP preferred
Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
CPA preferred but not required
Ability to travel approximately 10%.
