TITLE: ELEMENTARY VICE PRINCIPAL
REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL
Primary Purpose:
The Elementary Vice Principal is responsible for management of their respective sequential grade level students, staff members, and curriculum. Responsibilities include core subjects program management (English, Math, and Science), discipline of staff and students, staff evaluations, and professional development on classroom management; Co-Supervise the Learning Support Program, and the Elementary A-Team.
Key Responsibilities of Elementary Vice Principal include:
1. CURRICULUM AND TEACHER SUPERVISION
- New York Curriculum compliance for Grades 2 and 3, for Core subjects: English, Math, Science. This includes ensuring that teachers are working towards, and meeting end-of-year grade level standards for each core subject. Weekly meetings with each teacher are required, as well as brief weekly written status reports.

- Teachers required using rubrics for grading; as well as disclosing grade level expectations to parents.
- Teachers required to create binders with year long plans, curriculum standards, rubrics, exemplars, weekly overviews, samples of student assessments.
- Teachers required to give regular assessment of Grade level standards.

- Providing supervision, support, and performance evaluations of all Grade 2/3 staff (non-Arabic) in regards to curriculum implementation and classroom management procedures, providing follow-up and evaluation, and maintaining appropriate documentation
- Weekly monitoring of Grade 2/3 teachers’ grades (each Sunday), ensuring grades are posted for previous week on Gradequick and exported to Edline.
- Weekly monitoring of Grade 2/3 teachers’weekly overviews, ensuring commensurate scope and breadth of coverage of curriculum components.
- Supervising verification of Grade 2/3 grades and comments at report card time.
- Meeting with parents of Grade 2/3 students who have concerns about programs or teachers.
To keep Principal and Director of Operations informed of all relevant and pertinent issues.
Organization and co-ordination of student bi-annual assessments (Stanford 10).
2. STUDENT CONTROL AND SUPERVISION
Discipline for students in Grades 2/3. Managing all follow-thru with parent contact and documentation.
Monitor Grade 2/3 students’ arrival and leaving times from school paying special attention that no Grade 2/3 student is allowed to leave the school grounds for any reason unless being picked up by parent or driver. Prior permission must be given, following office procedures.
Daily lunch duty in the cafeteria to manage student behavior.
3. SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES – DIVIDED AMONGST ALL THREE GRADE LEVEL VP’S
- Morning assemblies
- Student Safety
- Teacher Evaluations for shared teachers
- Birthdays
- Certificates/Awards
- Creating of letter to parents on Stanford results
- Sending home Stanford results
- Faculty meeting dates, meeting agendas, presentation
- Field trips, Assemblies, and Activities
- Supervision of Linda Pine. – For Students in Grades KG2 and Grade 1
- Campus cleanliness and tidiness
4. REPORTING
- To include “watch” list of Grade 2/3 students who are not meeting grad level expectations and who are recommended for repeating the grade level.
- Documentation needs to be kept, letters need to go home to parents, parent meetings held, and report cards reviewed carefully before being approved.
- Monthly curriculum standards status report for Grade 2/3, by Core Subject area and teacher.
- Professional Development for your teachers.
Other duties assigned by the Principal or management.
Qualifications:
Native English speaker
Previous experience as a Vice Principal or in a similar role
Knowledge of school administrative processes and national educational regulations
Hands-on experience with MS Office and education management systems
Attention to detail
Great presentation and communication skills
Crisis management
Ability to coach and inspire
Degree in Education; Master’s degree is a plus
Problem-solving skills to enhance teacher performance and improve student grades
Excellent oral and verbal communication skills
