The Role:
The Humanitarian Programme and accountability Officer will support humanitarian programming processes across preparedness, emergency response, recovery, resilience building, and humanitarian systems influencing. This includes preparedness planning, coordination, documentation, and information management functions of IHART. The role will contribute to effective humanitarian programme delivery by strengthening programme tracking, data management systems, donor reporting, knowledge management, and organizational learning to strengthen programme quality, adaptive management, advocacy, and locally led humanitarian action.
The position will also support coordination with country programmes, partners, and humanitarian stakeholders to ensure timely communication, quality documentation, and evidence generation for humanitarian advocacy and programming.
Who we're looking for:
You should have substantial experience in humanitarian programming and information management, with a strong ability to support high-quality programme documentation, reporting, and coordination. You will bring proven expertise in consolidating and analysing programme data, producing clear and compelling reports for internal and donor audiences, and strengthening information management systems to support effective humanitarian response. This includes working closely with programme teams to capture results, lessons learned, and impact, while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of information.
A strong understanding of humanitarian principles, coordination mechanisms, and the rights of women and young people in emergencies is essential, alongside experience supporting emergency or resilience-focused programming. Experience working in complex and fast-paced humanitarian contexts, particularly within Africa, will be highly valuable.
You will need excellent organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines under pressure. Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multicultural and multidisciplinary teams are critical.
You must be an excellent writer and editor, capable of producing high-quality reports, briefs, and documentation products that clearly communicate programme progress and impact. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and familiarity with digital collaboration and information-sharing platforms are required.
You should demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and support coordination across teams and stakeholders.
