JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Physician Assistant – Neurosurgery • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Cooperstown, NY • Service Setting: Hospital • Coverage Type: Clinical Only • Coverage Period: 06/29/2026 – 06/29/2027 • Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00a – 5:00p • On-Call Shift Schedule: No required call; optional compensated call available COVERAGE DATES • 06/29/2026 – 06/29/2027 • Potential option to extend PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adults/Geriatrics • Patient Volume/Census: Varies based on elective surgery schedule • Admissions: Yes • Rounding: Included • Phone Consults: Yes • Case Mix: • Approximately 80% spine surgery • Approximately 20% cranial cases • Broad neurosurgical spectrum FACILITY INFORMATION • EMR System: Epic • Support Staff Available: • 1 APP for evening/weekend coverage • Formal sign-out provided • Physician Coverage: • 3 full-time Neurosurgery attendings on site • Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coverage/Urgent need PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Temporary Privileges Available: TBD • Credentialing Timeline: • Approximately 120 days • Expedited credentialing requested due to urgent need COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES • First assist in surgery • Suturing wounds • Wound aspirations • OR assistance • Clinic evaluations • Inpatient rounding JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active NY license preferred • Board: NCCPA Certification required • DEA: Active DEA preferred • Certifications: BLS required • Experience: • Neurosurgery experience preferred • Spine surgery experience highly preferred • Other Qualifications: • Comfortable assisting in OR, clinic, and inpatient settings • Proficiency with Epic EMR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • First assist in neurosurgical procedures • Perform minor bedside procedures • Conduct inpatient rounding and patient evaluations • Assist with outpatient clinic responsibilities • Collaborate with Neurosurgery attendings and APP team • Provide patient care across OR, clinic, and inpatient settings
