The Director of Finance at this high growth project-based business oversees all aspects of the company's financial operations and serves as the financial advisor and business partner to the President and the senior leadership team. This position also works closely with the ownership group's Finance team to ensure compliance with accounting policies and reporting requirements. The Director of Finance is part of the senior leadership team and will oversee the accounting team's performance, growth, and development, as well as focus on strategic, high-level financial planning, cash flow management, and business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of Finance and Accounting operations, including financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, financial analysis, cash management.

  • Develop and present timely and accurate monthly financial results and analysis to the management team including project financial reporting.

  • Responsible for Treasury including liquidity, cash flow and cash forecasting, financial risk, and banking relationships. Ensure compliance with any debt covenants.

  • Drive and prepare the annual budget in close collaboration with the management team and ownership group.

  • Manage annual financial audits, overseeing and managing the outside audit firm to ensure timely completion.

  • Coordinate insurance and tax compliance in coordination with the ownership group.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal controls.

  • Support fundraising activities, including investor presentations, data room preparation, and deal management.

  • Establish work center rates based on annual budget to include fixed OH, variable OH, and establish SG&A rates for direct and indirect labor. Analyze and direct all cost accounting procedures to ensure compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).

  • Review and assess regular transactions, investments, and business opportunities affecting the company's financial performance.

  • Ensure accurate accounting records and monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with department heads to align financial goals with business strategy.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance/accounting team

Responsibilities

This position manages a Senior Accountant and the relationship with a Virtual Controller.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • CPA or MBA preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Experience in investor engagement and due diligence processes.

  • Experience working in a project-based business with percent complete/earned value accounting.

  • Experience with government contracts required.

  • Experience with CAS Compliance, FAR, DFAR and GSA preferred.

  • Expertise with ERP-based accounting systems.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • High integrity, professionalism, and ability to influence across all levels.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial modeling, and cost accounting in a project-based business.

  • Proven success in FP&A, accounting operations, and financial reporting.
