  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and employees
  • Interact professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors, and staff
  • Maintain and promote a positive public perception of Brookdale Hospital and its employees
  • Implement hospital policies and procedures, as well as regulatory agency codes and regulations related to the department
  • Oversee operations and management of the unit in collaboration with the Director
  • Maintain overall responsibility for unit operations, with all disciplines reporting to the Director
  • Coordinate performance improvement activities to ensure an interdisciplinary approach
  • Utilize appropriate benchmarks for performance evaluation
  • Assemble and prepare data related to clinical activities and required reports for:
    • NY State Office of Mental Health (OMH)
    • NY Department of Health (DOH)
    • NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH)
    • Administration for Children’s Services (ACS)
  • Review and monitor admissions and discharges to ensure appropriate clinical management and discharge planning
  • Gather performance improvement data and ensure compliance with regulatory agency standards (DOH, JCAHO)
  • Manage budgeting, supplies, and inventory maintenance as needed
  • Provide operational leadership on a 24-hour basis
  • Ensure compliance with PCS Scope of Service, Philosophy of Nursing, and Ethical standards
  • Oversee patient care areas to ensure clinical needs and competencies are met
  • Provide administrative coverage for the Nursing Department as needed
  • Participate in continuing education to enhance administrative and clinical knowledge and skills
  • Implement innovative and best practices in patient care
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director and/or Sr. Vice President for Patient Care Services
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Support HCAHPS development with team and service
  • Licensed and currently registered as a Professional Nurse in New York State
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Crisis Management Certification (PMCS, TRUST)
  • Minimum of five (5) years as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in psychiatry
  • Minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience
  • Strong critical thinking, math, and computer skills; ability to work as a team player
  • Experience ensuring compliance with NYSDOH, JCAHO, and other regulatory bodies
  • Knowledge of quality improvement models, processes, and tools in healthcare settings
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of regulatory trends and industry standards
  • Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Root Cause Analysis
  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and respect in all interactions
  • Strong leadership, budgetary, and administrative skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated competency in clinical specialty area
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to read, write, see, and hear in English
  • Proficiency in BHMC electronic record systems, healthcare equipment, and billing systems
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required
