What We Offer

Location: Cancer Center, 2100 Glenwood Drive, Suite 103, Orlando, Florida.
Assesses patient acuity based on diagnosis and visit reason, calculating necessary treatment time using orders and consulting with relevant staff. Collaborates with oncology physician offices, infusion centers, and radiation oncology offices to schedule patients, negotiating date and time while avoiding resource conflicts. Works closely with infusion center and radiation oncology leaders to maximize utilization of nursing and technician time, productivity, and resources. Coordinates special procedure needs with appropriate departments, staff, and external resources. Ensures patients starting chemotherapy or radiation therapy are scheduled for education prior to their first appointment. Schedules patients requiring labs prior to treatment to prevent delays in their treatment appointments. Understands physician orders and schedules patients for multiple recurring appointments within authorization timeframes and payer guidelines. Coordinates appointments for patients receiving both chemotherapy and radiation with relevant departments. Verifies faxed orders from internal or external physicians for accuracy and completeness, communicating with physicians if information is missing. Confirms external physicians faxing orders are privileged with AdventHealth to admit patients to outpatient facilities. Minimizes duplication of medical records by verifying patient identity through demographic details. Sends faxed treatment requests via email to Benefits and Authorization team for authorization processing. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Ability to use discretion when discussing personnel/patient related issues that are confidential in nature, responsive to ever-changing matrix of healthcare departments and hospital needs and acts accordingly. [Required]
• Mature judgment in dealing with patients, physicians, and insurance representatives. [Required]
• Ability to be responsive and able to perform without close supervision. [Required]
• Ability to listen and document notes simultaneously. [Required]
• Intermediate knowledge of personal computer applications and proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote. [Required]
• Ability to operate general office machines such as computer, fax machine, printer, and scanner. [Required]
• Self-motivated, critical thinker with outstanding customer service skills and a high level of patience and professionalism. [Required]
• Strong ability to build and sustain relationships in both clinical and non-clinical environments. [Required]
• First Contact Resolution approach in handling consumer complaints, issues, or grievances. [Required]
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in English, both verbally and nonverbally, and utilizes effective listening and questioning techniques. [Required]
• Excellent telephone etiquette. [Required]
• Excellent problem-solving techniques and listening skills. [Required]
• Ability to effectively learn and perform multiple tasks and organize work in a systematic and efficient fashion, based on volume of work within specific deadlines. [Required]
• Adheres to government guidelines such as CMS, EMTALA, and HIPAA and corporate policies. [Required]
• Exposure to insurance benefits; ability to decipher insurance benefit information. [Preferred]
• Knowledge of computer programs and electronic health record programs. [Preferred]
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology. [Preferred]
• Bilingual – English/Spanish. [Preferred]
Education:
• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Field of Study:
• in business or health related field.
Work Experience:
• 1+ administrative support in a healthcare setting [Required]
