Job Summary
The purpose of the position is to provide administrative, logistical, procurement, financial, and operational support to facilitate efficient project implementation and APAD secretariat functions. The post holder will support AWF's engagements with global policy and governance as they relate to government, multilateral institutions, and other key stakeholders across Africa.
The role will work in close collaboration with the Global Policy and Governance (GPG) Team to achieve the team's objectives. Given the international nature of this work, it requires a collaborative approach and the ability to work across cultural differences. To succeed, the post holder will work closely with their line manager and GPG team members, drawing on their expertise to take up all assigned functions and responsibilities, along with any other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Keystone Partnership project and APAD Secretariat.
- Coordinate logistics for meetings, workshops, conferences, benchmarking exchanges, and field visits.
- Support travel arrangements, venue management, procurement, interpretation, and participant registration.
- Support preparation and dispatch of invitations, agendas, minutes, correspondence, and reports.
- Facilitate communications and correspondence with APAD stakeholders such as government agencies and institutions, peer NGOs, youth and IPLCs networks.
- Lead the maintenance of project records, filing systems, and databases.
- Support financial administration, payment processing, and budget tracking.
- Coordinate procurement processes and consultant administration.
- Assist with communications and event coordination.
- Lead the development and maintenance of calendars and scheduling for the GPG team, APAD, and Keystone Partnership project.
Key Qualifications
- Degree in social and natural sciences, economics, international development or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience engaging governments in Africa and development partners of Africa.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking.
- Education and demonstrated knowledge of the emerging business environment in Africa and related impacts on natural resources.
- Computer literacy to use all MS Office packages.
- Ability to work in English and French is highly preferred.
- Advance study of and experience working on development issues in multiple African regions.
- Ability to deal with proactive and reactive work and to take on new priorities as they arise.
- Excellence in achieving outcomes through partnership and matrixed teams.
- A passion for wildlife and wildlands.
