About the Role
~1 min readWe are seeking a highly capable Senior Civil Estimator to take full ownership of the estimating function and manage the entire bidding process from start to finish. This role will work directly with the company owner, who is currently responsible for estimating, project management, and business development.
The successful candidate will gradually transition from working under review and oversight to independently managing the complete estimating lifecycle and delivering client-ready proposals with minimal supervision.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced estimator who thrives in a lean environment, enjoys ownership and accountability, and is comfortable operating independently within established systems and procedures.
Responsibilities

Manage the complete estimating process for commercial earthwork and utility construction projects from bid invitation through proposal submission.

Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs using industry-standard estimating software.

Develop complete project estimates and bid proposals.
- →
Review plans, specifications, and project documents to determine scope requirements.

Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) during the bidding process.

Follow and adapt to internal estimating procedures and standard operating processes.

Maintain estimated documentation and bid records within the company's internal systems.

Communicate directly with the company owner on project priorities, bid strategy, and estimate reviews.

Progress from an initial onboarding and review phase to fully autonomous bid management.
Projects typically include:
Starbucks locations
McDonald's restaurants
Gas stations and convenience stores
Medical and doctor's offices
Small commercial site developments
Commercial earthwork and utility packages for projects generally two acres and under
Requirements
~1 min readCivil Engineering degree or relevant engineering background preferred.
Proven experience estimating U.S.-based commercial construction projects.
Strong experience with commercial earthwork and utility construction estimating.
Ability to independently manage the complete bidding lifecycle from takeoff to final proposal submission.
Experience preparing quantity takeoffs, estimates, RFIs, and bid packages.
Strong understanding of U.S. construction standards, terminology, and workflows.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to work standard U.S. Mountain Time business hours.
