Responsibilities

JITC’s Radio Test Facility (RTF) technicians conduct standards conformance and interoperability testing of High Frequency (HF), Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Satellite Communications (SATCOM), and Very High Frequency/UHF Line of Sight radio systems, ensuring that they meet predefined requirements drawn from Military Standards (MIL-STDs), UHF SATCOM MIL-STDs, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Standardization Agreements (STANAGs), commercial standards (e.g., System Specifications), and waveform interface specifications. They develop test cases, execute tests, and analyze results to identify defects and issues. The RTF technicians work closely with system developers to ensure problems are resolved and retested. May be involved in automating testing processes to improve efficiency.

  • Attend and provide subject matter expertise to all meetings, discussions, and activities to provide input to both the technical and programmatic coordination efforts.
  • Identifying the Unit Under Test (UUT) and all ancillary equipment required for testing.
  • Identifying required lab equipment and UUT power requirements.
  • Ensure all Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) have current calibration dates and are performing as expected.
  • Assemble test station with appropriate test equipment and integrate the UUT into test configuration.
  • Conduct Test Readiness Reviews (TRR).
  • Perform testing on the UUT against the applicable requirements documents and in accordance with the associated test procedures.
  • Mark the test procedures with redline changes to be included in the test procedure updates.
  • Perform regression test efforts as required.
  • Draft and submit a weekly test status matrix to the stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and conduct weekly meetings with the stakeholders to discuss the test status matrix and any outstanding issues.
  • Performs reduction and analysis of the raw data collected during the testing phase.
  • Prepare the appropriate interoperability or Standards Conformance Test report.
  • Tear-down and uninstall the test configuration, returning lab infrastructure to baseline state ready to execute future testing of systems.
  • Review the redline changes that were documented during testing and incorporate them into an updated copy of the test procedures.
  • Requires 8 years of specialized and/or military experience.

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing one or more of the following test tools: Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Audio Generator/Analyzer, Vector Signal Analyzer, and Fireberd Communications Analyzer.
  • Familiar with Department of War (DoW) operations and environment, and comfortable with RF/IT systems and software.
  • Familiar with and actively using the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated experience bench testing RF systems. HF experience is desired.
  • Contractor site with 0%-10% travel possible. Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
  • Sedentary – 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles.  Some occasional walking or standing may be required.   Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
