Responsible for compiling financial data and reporting through verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling accounting transactions and resolving discrepancies. This role will be required to partner with company managers to ensure compliance and accuracy of our books and records.
The Accountant II is an organized, detail-oriented role that assists with a wide range of monthly, quarterly and annual accounting responsibilities. Candidates need to bring strong analytical skills to the role and should be capable of handling challenging, fast-paced work environments while working with limited supervision. You will work with cross-functional stakeholders in finance, tax, procurement, contract management, and sales operations, as well as others, and help staff accounting professionals develop their skills.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Execute monthly accounting close activities and account reconciliations
- →Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
- →Ensure proper revenue and expenses are recognized in accordance with GAAP
- →General ledger operations including performing account substantiations
- →Maintain and account for all capital and operating leases
- →Prepare journal entries
- →Ensure financial close and reporting deadlines are met
- →Prepare financial management reports
- →Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end closes
- →Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
- →Independently resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
- →Maintain vendor master file and assign vendor codes
- →Assist with Annual 1099 reporting at the calendar year-end
- →Work cross-functionally with and support our business partners by providing financial insights and relevant reporting
- →Provide support and assist with the company year-end financial audit
- →Assist with ad-hoc projects as assigned
- →Mentor junior team members
- →Collaborate with team and business partners on financial reporting enhancements
- →Responsible for projecting a positive image of GDM and act in accordance with the Company’s Core Values
- →Performs other duties as assigned.
- Thorough understanding of accounting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Solid technical accounting skills
- Must have problem solving abilities
- Ability to effectively present information
- Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines and multitask
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with advanced level in Excel
- Ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material
- Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and multi-task while maintaining attention to detail
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline required
- CPA and/or Master’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years of general accounting experience preferred
- Knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and Lease accounting
- Experience in Concur and SAP helpful, but not required
- Must have valid driver’s license and meet MVR guidelines.
