The Sr. Benefits & HRSS Specialist supports the administration of employee benefits and Human Resources Shared Services (HRSS) processes throughout the employee lifecycle. This role is responsible for administering benefit programs, maintaining accurate employee records, processing HRIS transactions, coordinating onboarding and offboarding activities, and supporting compliance-related reporting and audits. This role works closely with employees, managers, vendors, and internal partners to provide timely support, ensure accurate and efficient HR processes, and contribute to a positive employee experience. This is a hybrid position requiring four days in the office and one remote workday per week.

 

Responsibilities

  •  Administer employee lifecycle processes, including new hire onboarding, employee status changes, and terminations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a positive employee experience.
  •  Enter, maintain, and audit employee data within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring records are accurate, complete, and up to date.
  •  Manage HRIS onboarding workflows, monitor background checks and drug screenings, and coordinate pre-employment requirements with hiring managers and candidates.
  •  Process termination transactions, prepare separation documentation, facilitate offboarding activities, and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  •  Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions related to HR processes, employee records, onboarding, offboarding, and benefits.
  •  Administer employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, wellness, and other company-sponsored plans.
  •  Conduct new hire benefits orientation and support employees during annual open enrollment, qualifying life events, dependent verification, and ongoing benefits inquiries.
  •  Maintain accurate benefit records within the HRIS, carrier portals, and related systems, ensuring timely updates and reconciliations.
  •  Partner with benefits providers and vendors to resolve eligibility, enrollment, billing, and employee service issues.
  •  Review, reconcile, and process benefit invoices to ensure accurate and timely payment.
  •  Support compliance and reporting activities related to ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, 401(k), and other applicable federal and state regulations.
  •  Coordinate and administer employee wellness initiatives, health club reimbursement programs, and education assistance benefits.
  •  Lead benefits-related annual processes, including 1095-C reporting, open enrollment administration, and other compliance-driven activities.
  •  Generate and maintain HR reports, records, and documentation to support business needs, audits, and regulatory requirements.
  •  Identify opportunities to improve HR operations, HRIS processes, and employee service delivery.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

  •  Knowledge of human resources administration, including employee onboarding, offboarding, HRIS administration, benefits administration, and regulatory compliance.
  •  Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to accurately maintain employee records, process transactions, and generate reports.
  •  Understanding of employee benefit programs and applicable regulations, including ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and 401(k) administration.
  •  Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain data accuracy.
  •  Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  •  Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively support employees, managers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  •  Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, investigate discrepancies, and recommend solutions.
  •  Ability to work independently and collaboratively while contributing to process improvements and operational efficiency.
  •  Bachelor’s degree in HR or business-related discipline preferred, equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  •  Two (2) – four (4) years of benefits experience required
  •  Knowledge of ERISA, ACA, and other relevant benefit compliance regulations
  •  Experience administering HRIS transactions and maintaining employee records.
  •  Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within Human Resources.
  •  Must have valid driver’s license and meet MVR guidelines.
