About the Role

• The role provides independent assurance to senior management and the Board over actuarial and related business processes across AIA Group. The incumbent is accountable for leading complex actuarial audit assignments, exercising sound professional judgment over key actuarial risks, influencing remediation outcomes, and contributing to the delivery of the overall audit plan. The role also plays a key part in developing actuarial audit capability and building effective relationships with actuarial, finance, and risk leaders across the Group.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, scoping, and execution of actuarial and financial risk audits across Group and local entities, with focus on valuation, pricing, reinsurance, capital management, actuarial systems, and emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Exercise independent judgement in identifying key risks, assessing control design and effectiveness, and forming audit conclusions.
  • Ensure audit deliverables meet GIA quality standards and are delivered within agreed timelines and budget.
  • Present audit findings and recommendations to senior management and relevant governance committees as required.
  • Build effective working relationships with actuarial, finance, risk, and compliance leaders to drive constructive audit outcomes.
  • Monitor and challenge the timely closure of audit issues and remediation actions.
  • Contribute to the development of actuarial audit methodology, audit approach, and use of data analytics.
  • Act as a subject‑matter resource within GIA on actuarial and financial risk topics.
  • Coach and peer review work performed by other auditors or co‑sourced teams on engagements.
  • Stay current on industry, regulatory, and actuarial developments (e.g. IFRS 17, capital regimes, actuarial modelling practices).
  • Contribute to ad‑hoc initiatives and special reviews as assigned by the Director of Actuarial Audit.

Requirements

  • University graduates of Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics or equivalent
  • Good command of both oral and written English
  • Strong leadership, project management and organisation skills
  • Solid problem-solving skills, ability to analyse complex data, identify core issues, investigate, evaluate and reach appropriate conclusions
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet milestones within time, cost and quality constraints
  • Excellent analytical, written/verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
  • Ability to adapt to changes quickly and multi-task
  • Willing to travel across the regions
  • Minimum 8–10 years of actuarial, insurance, or related experience, including exposure to complex life insurance products and actuarial frameworks
  • Prior internal or external audit, second‑line risk, or actuarial review experience in a regulated financial services environment is strongly preferred.
  • A relevant professional qualification such as Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent actuarial experience
  • Strong understanding of insurance and legislative/regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge with audit tools would be an asset, and other software including data analytic tools, Prophet MS Office (Actuarial Software), intermediate knowledge on IT
