Position Summary
The Department of Industrial Engineering invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor from outstanding candidates with expertise at the intersection of Industrial Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, software-driven systems, optimization, and data analytics. We seek a highly qualified and forward-looking academic who can contribute to teaching, research, graduate supervision, and industry collaboration, while helping shape a modern Industrial Engineering department aligned with Industry 4.0, smart systems, digital transformation, and applied research excellence. The candidate is expected to have an exceptional track record in artificial intelligence and machine learning, including demonstrated expertise in large language models and robotics-oriented applications. The successful candidate is expected to develop an exceptional teaching and research portfolio that strengthens the department’s undergraduate and postgraduate offerings, with a particular role in supporting and expanding the MSc programs through advanced teaching, thesis supervision, interdisciplinary research, and curriculum innovation.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Industrial Engineering and related areas.
- Develop and deliver advanced courses in areas such as:
- Artificial Intelligence for Engineering Systems
- Machine Learning and Predictive Analytics
- Optimization and Decision Support Systems
- Simulation Modeling and Digital Twins
- Operations Research and Intelligent Systems
- Industrial Software Applications and Data-Driven Decision Making
- Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0
- Supervise MSc students and contribute actively to graduate research, thesis development, and program growth.
- Establish a strong, externally visible research agenda leading to high-impact publications, funded projects, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Integrate AI and software tools into Industrial Engineering education, research, and real-world applications.
- Contribute to curriculum development, accreditation, quality assurance, and continuous program improvement.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
- Support the development of research labs, graduate pathways, and innovation initiatives that position the department as a regional and international leader.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have:
- A PhD in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field from a recognized and reputable institution.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Artificial Intelligence
- Machine Learning
- Optimization
- Data Analytics
- Industrial Software Systems
- Smart Manufacturing
- Simulation and Modeling
- Operations Research
- Evidence of strong teaching capability at the university level.
- A record of scholarly achievement appropriate to rank, including publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- The ability to contribute to curriculum development and interdisciplinary academic initiatives.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and academic leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- An established research profile in AI-enabled Engineering applications.
- Experience in developing or teaching courses that combine engineering, software, and analytics.
- Experience supervising graduate students, especially at the MSc or PhD level.
- A track record of securing competitive research funding.
- Industry or applied research experience in areas such as manufacturing systems, logistics, healthcare systems, supply chain analytics, digital transformation, or smart operations.
- Experience building collaborations with research centers, government entities, and industry partners.
- Professional proficiency in programming, computational tools, or industrial software platforms such as Python, R, MATLAB, CPLEX, Gurobi, AnyLogic, Arena, Power BI, SQL, or related systems.
