Akicita Federal is hiring Registered Nurses (RN) to deliver direct patient care across ambulatory and urgent care settings for the Indian Health Service's Four Corners Regional Health Center in Shiprock, NM. This is meaningful, mission-driven work supporting American Indian and Alaska Native communities in the Navajo Area — populations that depend on dedicated nursing professionals to bridge a critical healthcare gap in a rural, underserved region. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary care team to provide high-quality, culturally respectful nursing services to patients of all ages.

- Assess, plan, and evaluate individualized patient care plans for outpatient and urgent care patients — including pediatric, maternal, and adult populations
- Perform and document patient interviews, vital sign interpretation, and clinical observations, ensuring accurate and timely entries in the electronic health record
- Provide hands-on nursing care for patients managing chronic and acute conditions such as congestive heart failure, hypertensive disorders, diabetes, infectious diseases, and autoimmune conditions
- Execute core nursing procedures including IV starts, lab draws, immunizations (adult and pediatric), wound care, and isolation precautions
- Assist providers with procedures such as lumbar punctures and paracentesis, and chaperone clinical exams as needed
- Educate and counsel patients and family members on treatment plans, disease management, and follow-up care
- Float to other clinical units as needed to support inpatient medical-surgical, palliative care, and surgical patient populations
What sets candidates apart:
- Experience caring for patients with complex chronic conditions prevalent in Native American communities (diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertensive disorders)
- Prior clinical experience in a federally operated, tribal, or rural/critical access health facility
- Familiarity with Indian Health Service systems, policies, or Navajo Area operations
- Cultural awareness of or demonstrated experience working with American Indian and Alaska Native patients and families
- Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or specialty ambulatory/urgent care credentials
