The Take Charge coordinator is responsible for providing personalized initial intakes for residential and non-residential clients. The Take Charge coordinator helps clients with finances, budgeting, job search, debt settlement and drafting resumes.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Providing Take Charge Budgeting Worksheets to clients post-intake
- →Providing Banking applications and direct contacts, along with Letters of Residency and related documents, post-intake
- →Helping clients create Credit Karma accounts, post-intake; providing other information on credit repair, post-intake
- →Helping clients email and/or print those credit reports for further review with the Coordinator
- →Helping clients write letters of dispute or debt settlement letters using TC models
- →Providing clients with Job Search and Resume Building tools using TC materials
- →Providing numerous electronic source materials, such as the Allstate Curriculum for financial education
- →Helping clients navigate Job Sites when necessary
- →Supporting clients in drafting their resumes
- →Streamlining and reformatting client resumes following the Coordinator's review
- →Introducing clients to local staffing agency as appropriate
- →Connecting clients with Retreat sources/partners, such as Bright Horizons, ESBOCES, the Women's International Scholarship Program (WISP), and more
- →Attending weekly Team Meeting
- →Supporting Coordinator 1-2 times per year in developing groups of old and new Workshop presenters, including contacting recommended presenters; updating the Excel or Word report of past presenters with contact information and topics; contacting and scheduling those presenters for future workshops; creating engaging separate announcement posters for Shelter and also Outreach clients; reminding Outreach clients of dates, etc.; informing Team and other Retreat staff of workshop schedules
- →Creating and administering Post-Workshop Surveys (based on KSAB--Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, and Behaviors); providing a report of Survey results
- →Generating Internal Referrals for Shelter and/or Outreach clients
- →Updating the database of all Take Charge Outreach clients; updating the Client Intake Tracking Spreadsheet
- Reports to : Shelter Director
Requirements

- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English) preferred.
- Ability to work with individuals in crisis.
- Must possess a high level of competency in organizational skills, interpersonal communication, and relationship building.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Drive.
- Ability to work as a supportive team member, coordinating feedback and knowledge.
- Fingerprint clearance and valid NYS Driver's License required.
- Sits, stands, stoops, squats, walks, and moves intermittently during work hours
- May lift, push, or pull 10-20 pounds occasionally.
