Transition Assistant Teacher

Aspire Living & Learning is currently seeking a Transition Assistant Teacher to play a key role in helping young adults with intellectual, developmental, and autism spectrum disabilities develop the skills necessary for employment, independent living, and meaningful community participation.
Working closely with the Director of Transition Services, this individual provides direct instruction, coordinates vocational training experiences, supervises community-based employment opportunities, and supports participants in achieving their individualized goals. This position combines the responsibilities of an educator, employment specialist, mentor, and job coach within Aspire's innovative, community-based model.

Required
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation, Psychology, Human Services, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Associate degree with relevant experience will be considered.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism.
- Experience in vocational training, supported employment, transition services, or job coaching preferred.
- Knowledge of person-centered planning and positive behavior supports.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must have satisfactory background checks.
Preferred
- Experience working in transition programs for young adults.
- Knowledge of Connecticut DDS services and employment supports.
- Experience collaborating with schools, employers, and community agencies.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
