We are building the future of marketing by rewarding our community of over 70 million users for engaging with our advertisers’ products. We are offering a new way to acquire users for the biggest companies in the world.

We are seeking a highly analytical, proactive, and technically skilled Fraud Investigation Specialist to join our team. In this evolved role, you will move beyond traditional fraud monitoring into a more intelligence-driven and project-focused function. You will actively identify system vulnerabilities, uncover emerging fraud patterns, and lead end-to-end investigations with a strong sense of ownership. Working closely with Data, Product, Engineering, and Account Management teams, you will strengthen our fraud prevention framework while proactively reducing risk exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify fraud risks by analyzing transactional, behavioral, and system-level data — not just reacting to alerts, but actively scoping out threats.

  • Conduct end-to-end fraud investigations, owning cases from initial detection through resolution and prevention design.

  • Perform vulnerability assessments and support penetration testing efforts to identify system weaknesses fraudsters could exploit.

  • Use SQL to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets to uncover hidden fraud patterns and anomalies.

  • Gather intelligence from multiple internal and external sources to anticipate emerging fraud tactics.

  • Design, implement, and optimize fraud detection and monitoring systems in close collaboration with Data, Product, Engineering, and Account Management to strengthen controls and close security gaps.

  • You think like an attacker but act as a defender — anticipating vulnerabilities before they are exploited.

  • You are highly self-reliant and proactive, capable of driving investigations independently without waiting for direction.

  • You have a strong project ownership mentality, approaching problems from multiple angles until fully resolved.

  • You thrive in fast-changing environments and are comfortable navigating ambiguity.

  • You combine analytical rigor with strategic thinking, focusing not only on solving individual cases but strengthening overall systems.

  • 3+ years of experience in Fraud Analysis, Security Operations, Intelligence, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and data analysis; ability to work with large datasets and uncover meaningful insights.

  • Experience with vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, or security risk analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct end-to-end investigations and projects independently.

  • Intelligence-gathering mindset — ability to synthesize information from multiple sources to identify emerging threats.

  • Experience with Python or similar scripting languages for analysis or automation is a strong plus.

  • Own Our Growth: We offer all Berlin-based employees equity in Almedia to truly be a part of our success.

  • Scale With Almedia: Grow alongside a startup that has been profitable from day one.

  • Central Berlin Office: Work from a fully-stocked modern office built for collaboration, accessible from all around Berlin.

  • Other Benefits: Transport subsidy, breakfasts and lunches, language learning, Urban Sports Club, and more.

We believe in fostering talent, evaluating all skill levels during the hiring process, and providing a clear path for growth. Almedia is an equal opportunity employer. We embrace and celebrate diversity, and encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply.
