As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a highly motivated Junior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team in Malta.
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive, organised and detail-oriented Junior Legal Counsel to support the legal team across a broad range of company secretarial, corporate governance, legal operations, compliance support and commercial legal matters.
The role will include responsibility for a number of legal operations and corporate administration workstreams, while also providing an opportunity to develop broader legal experience across commercial contracting, regulatory matters, corporate support and cross-functional advisory work.
The successful candidate will act as a key point of coordination between the legal team and internal departments including finance, compliance and operations, ensuring the timely flow of information, documentation and approvals. The role is well suited to a junior lawyer who is looking to build practical in-house legal experience within a fast-paced, multi-entity and regulated business environment.
Key Responsibilities Corporate Governance
- Support the Company Secretary and legal team with routine corporate governance, company secretarial, statutory maintenance and company filing matters.
- Assist with the preparation, filing and organisation of corporate documents, including resolutions, statutory forms, Malta Business Registry filings, certificates and company records.
- Maintain accurate corporate records, internal registers, entity information, statutory deadlines and company folders.
- Coordinate corporate formalities and documentation requests, including signatures, certifications, company searches, third-party requests, due diligence and onboarding requirements.
- Liaise with internal legal, finance and compliance teams to coordinate corporate information, due diligence responses and supporting documentation.
Legal Support & Contract Management
- Support the legal team with the preparation, drafting, review, coordination and management of legal documents, including template-based agreements, amendments, letters and routine correspondence.
- Maintain executed document records, agreement trackers, internal legal databases and litigation folders, ensuring documentation is accurate, current and accessible.
- Conduct legal research, monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments, and assist with updating company policies, procedures and internal guidance.
- Assist with regulatory applications, compliance queries and communications with authorities, external counsel and third parties.
- Support the wider legal team with ad hoc legal, compliance and corporate matters.
Cross-Functional Support & Communications
- Liaise with finance, compliance, risk, operations and other business teams to support efficient legal and corporate processes.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including banks, external counsel, notaries, service providers and authorities, as required.
- Provide support to finance and compliance teams on official documentation requirements as directed by the legal team.
- Undertake other ad hoc legal, corporate or business support tasks as required.
Candidate Profile Essential
- Law degree essential.
- Qualified lawyer with up to 2 years’ post qualification experience, or equivalent paralegal or junior legal experience. Newly qualified candidates with internships or similar experience are encouraged to apply.
- Good understanding of Maltese corporate law and company maintenance requirements, or willingness to develop in this area.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with confidence liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluent in English.
- Proactive, reliable and able to take ownership of tasks with appropriate supervision.
Desirable
- Previous exposure to paralegal, company secretarial, corporate services, in-house legal work or a regulated business environment.
- Familiarity with trackers, DocuSign, Jira, or similar tools.
- Interest in iGaming, technology or other regulated industries.
