The Altenar Intelligence Platform (AIP) is the long term vision for unlocking this potential.
We are seeking a Technical AIP Data Analyst to join the Technology team to work closely with various Product and Business stakeholders to focus on using data pipelines and various analytical techniques to analyse business procedures. The role requires outstanding communication skills, proven ability to build and manage medium-scale modelling projects, define scope of existing infrastructure, identify data requirements, build methodology and tools that are well researched, undertake feasibility studies, and support with documentation. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate familiarity with concepts such as ETL, machine learning and statistics.
The successful applicant should illustrate comfort working in a startup environment, possessing high intellectual curiosity with ability to quickly learn new concepts/frameworks, algorithms and technology that powers Alternar business objectives. We seek someone with a high degree of ownership that can effectively examine flows of data, researching and evaluating to consistently deliver superior quality results on-time. The successful candidate should be able to rapidly prototype analytical models with the goal of generating strategic business insights as per the needs of the AIP roadmap.
Finally, the applicant is expected to display a high degree of independence working across multiple programs and initiatives to un-earth opportunities. The role demands strong data organisation, data structure, and data hierarchy knowledge, and may be suited to incumbents with extensive Data Analysis and/or computing programming experience.
The activities of a Technical AIP Data Analyst include but are not limited to:
- Continuously updating core knowledge and skills in SQL and Python or R as applied to mathematical analysis
- Liaises with internal stakeholders including the Solution Architect and Business Analysts, and directly with key Product and Business owners on topics for exploration and their description
- Liaises with internal stakeholders including Data Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers and Data Services Engineers on data collection, movement and storage strategies
- Analyse and Build analytical applications in a structured manner that can be tested and deployed based on stakeholder requirements
- Undertake feasibility studies and various types of analytics including descriptive, diagnostic, predictive or prescriptive analytics.
- Communicate the impact of technologies by delivering views, dashboards and report configurations using BI tools as required by internal stakeholders
- Supporting software architecture processes with data handling and visualisation specifications
- Participation in the Architecture Review process (including by providing advice and assistance) to ensure new initiatives or major changes to the Altenar product portfolio have data flow considerations represented at the inception phase
- Examine existing business models and flows of data and design functional specifications by participating in the research, test, design of new data services tools for online or warehoused data
- Work in a fast-paced, dynamic, multinational, multicultural environment
- Creating and maintaining documentation for the solutions provided
Qualifications
- Experience working with python and pandas
- Strong SQL querying skills
- Knowledge of noSQL and ETL operations considered a plus
- Strong analytical and forecasting skills using offline methods such as spreadsheets
- Strong math and statistics background (relevant Degree education required)
- Proven experience with one or more BI tools (Metabase, Apache Superset, Redash, PowerBI, Tableau, Qlikview)
- Ability to quickly write ad-hoc scripts to analyze small to medium datasets.
- Strong research and validation skills
- Motivated and self-driven to work in an environment with minimal supervision
- Strong presentation skills
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Experience in Technical Data Analytics, Data Science (Computing), and/or Product Management roles
- Graduate-level education in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Economics, or other relevant field
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Spark core functionality such as Spark SQL, Spark Structured Streaming is very desirable
- Some experience in using Git version control in the context of documentation/source code management
- Knowledge of Linux CLI tools to perform "quick and dirty" command line analysis to serve as first exploratory review of data
- Some knowledge of MLaaS such as Amazon Machine Learning services, Azure Machine Learning, Google AI Platform, and IBM Watson Machine Learning
- Experience in building, testing and validating machine learning algorithms
- Prior direct or indirect involvement in data warehouse design, tool selection and support
- Experience with Data Lab concepts with Hue, Zeppelin, Jupyterhub
- Experience with Hadoop/HDFS - CLI, HDFS access from scripts
- Knowledge of C# or Java is considered an asset
