We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong Aerospace Engineering background to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex aerospace programs. This role will serve as the primary point of coordination between engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and customer stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate combines strong project management expertise with hands-on aerospace engineering knowledge and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Planning & Execution
- Lead aerospace development, manufacturing, industrialization, or sustainment projects from initiation through completion.
- Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource forecasts.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria.
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions to mitigate schedule, cost, and technical risks.
- Facilitate project reviews, gate reviews, and executive status meetings.
- Technical Leadership
- Provide technical oversight and guidance to engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineering teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Review engineering deliverables, technical reports, design changes, and program documentation.
- Support requirements management, verification, validation, and certification activities.
- Stakeholder & Customer Management
- Serve as the primary interface between customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Manage customer expectations, project communications, and contractual deliverables.
- Prepare and present program status updates to executive leadership and customers.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of products and services.
- Risk & Compliance Management
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Support audits, quality reviews, and certification activities.
- Drive issue resolution and escalation management across all project functions.
- Financial & Resource Management
- Develop and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, and financial reporting.
- Monitor earned value, project expenditures, and resource utilization.
- Support proposal development, project estimates, and business case evaluations.
- Optimize project resources while maintaining quality and delivery commitments.
- Continuous Improvement
- Implement project management best practices and lessons learned.
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance program execution and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to the development of project management standards, tools, and methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, program management, or project management.
- 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional engineering or aerospace programs.
- Strong understanding of aerospace product development, manufacturing, testing, and certification processes.
- Experience managing project schedules, budgets, risks, and stakeholder communications.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, Smartsheet, or equivalent.
- Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with commercial aerospace, defense, space systems, propulsion systems, avionics, or aircraft structures.
- Knowledge of aerospace quality standards such as AS9100 and regulatory requirements from the FAA, EASA, or DoD.
- Experience with risk management, configuration management, and systems engineering processes.
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
