At Altos, your work will be at the heart of a mission to transform medicine by reversing disease and restoring cell health. You will contribute to the development of a new generation of drugs rooted in an advanced understanding of cellular rejuvenation and resilience.

As a Sr Scientist of Discovery Pharmacology team, your primary focus will be supporting the in vitro pharmacology needs of the Drug Discovery and Development (3DS) division of Altos. This is a laboratory research scientist position focused on the development and execution of cell-based and biochemical assays, and complex in vitro models. Your work will contribute to our drug discovery campaigns across a diverse portfolio of drug discovery and development stage projects. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving our mission and making a significant impact in aging/rejuvenation biology and drug discovery. 

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and validate drug targets, define mechanisms of action (MoA) through robust pharmacology strategies.
  • Design, automate, and troubleshoot all kinds of assays.
  • Analyze data and present it to help make project decisions.
  • Keep great records in the electronic lab notebook (ELN), ensure reproducibility and data integrity.
  • Work with people across different teams, including the Product Development crew.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. (Pharmacology, Bio, etc.) plus at least 6 years of post-PhD experience AND 3+ years industry experience in drug discovery and development.
  • You need to be able to design your own experiments and get solid, repeatable results.
  • Major experience with cellular and biochemical assays and complex in vitro models.
  • You must be a pro with lab automation and high-throughput techniques (think Bravo, Echo, I.DOT, and tech like MSD, HTRF, AlphaLISA).
  • Good communication skills and you're fast, organized, and can handle a lot.
  • Experience working with outside labs (CROs) is also required.

Requirements

  • Experience with high-content imaging in high-throughput settings (96- and 384-wells).
  • Worked with different drug types (small molecules, nucleic acids, gene therapies).
  • Knowledge of aging/rejuvenation biology is a huge plus.
  • Screening experience with various modalities (small molecules, siRNA, ASO).
  • Familiarity with microfluidics assays.

The salary range for Redwood City, CA:

  • Senior Scientist I, In Vitro Pharmacology $176,000 - $225,700
