We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Entry Level Commercial HVAC Technician to support customers after system installation. This role focuses on assisting in equipment start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, and ongoing service for commercial and industrial HVAC systems. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual with a strong technical aptitude, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a genuine desire to learn from experienced professionals. They are dependable, take initiative without constant supervision, and are committed to developing the knowledge and skills necessary to become a successful commercial HVAC technician.

This position requires between five and fifteen percent travel, primarily within the greater Vancouver, BC area. Travel may include overnight stays. All business travel expenses are reimbursed in accordance with company policy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in equipment start-up and commissioning of newly installed HVAC systems, including verifying proper operation and settings.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize system life and efficiency.
  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing HVAC equipment issues such as electrical faults, refrigerant leaks, or airflow imbalances.
  • Verify that control systems and safety devices are functioning correctly.
  • Work with project managers and installation teams to resolve post-installation issues quickly and effectively.
  • Document all service and maintenance work performed, including test results, parts used, and system adjustments.
  • Provide clear communication to customers about system performance, recommended improvements, and service needs.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards, codes, and company procedures.
  • Participate in training to stay current with HVAC technologies, diagnostic tools, and energy efficiency practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HVAC technicians, engineers, and customer service representatives, to ensure seamless delivery of HVAC solutions to clients

Requirements

  • Trade school education experience in commercial HVAC service or maintenance; installation experience is a plus.
  • Gas Ticket or REF Ticket preferred
  • Strong desire to learn HVAC systems, controls, and post-installation troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work in diverse environments (rooftops, mechanical rooms, outdoor conditions).

For this FT role, the anticipated hourly range is $30 - $45 CAD, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition, Johnson Barrow offers a comprehensive benefits package and reimburses business travel expenses in accordance with company policy.
