The Role
We are seeking an experienced Payroll and Accounting Administrator to join our fast‑growing, diversified private corporation at our headquarters in Bryan, Texas. This role plays an integral part in payroll processing, month‑end close activities, and detailed accounting analysis projects. The ideal candidate brings a strong team mentality, the ability to perform complex accounting and payroll activities, and a high level of comfort using technology to analyze large volumes of data with exceptional attention to detail. This position reports to the Controller.
What You’ll Do
Team & Culture Contributions
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment

- Identify areas for improvement and assist with implementing process enhancements
Payroll Responsibilities
- Process weekly and bi‑weekly payroll for multiple entities using NetSuite, Time IPS, and Ceridian
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll payments, including taxes, garnishments, and deductions, in compliance with all federal and state regulations
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of payroll laws in a multi‑state environment
- Compile and process payroll data from timekeeping systems and other sources for wages, bonuses, and commissions
- Prepare payroll accrual journal entries
- Prepare journal entries for compensation transfers between companies
- Ensure accurate calculation of taxes, benefits, and payroll deductions
- Coordinate with Human Resources to process approved personnel actions, including wage changes, benefit and deduction setup or termination, back pay, partial payments, and one‑time adjustments
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion in payroll administration
- Assist with automating payroll reporting in conjunction with sales and manufacturing data
Accounting Responsibilities
- Perform bank reconciliations in a timely manner
- Reconcile miscellaneous receivable and payroll‑related general ledger accounts
- Calculate and submit multi‑state sales tax reports and payments using Avalara
- Submit timely federal and state tax payments
- Manage the HSA Bank
- Develop the capability to serve as the 401(k) plan administrator
- Accrue bonus payments by department and prepare related journal entries
- Assist with audit requests and documentation
- Perform other accounting‑related duties as assigned
Who You Are
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of recent payroll processing experience (multi‑state preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of recent accounting experience with general ledger responsibility
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
- Experience with ERP accounting systems (NetSuite strongly preferred)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills required, including XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables, and similar functions
- Superior analytical and computational skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Tableau flow preparation is a plus, but not required
