Position Overview
The Capital Markets Data Analyst is dedicated exclusively to supporting the Capital Markets group from within the Enterprise Intelligence department. This is a data-focused analyst role centered on strong SQL skills, sound analytical judgment, and a close working partnership with the capital markets business.
The right person can be dropped into an existing data object, understand what it is doing, find the holes, and improve the logic — all while knowing when to question whether the data itself is telling the right story. You will own the accuracy and reliability of the datasets and reports that drive capital markets decision-making, including Daily P/L, Gain on Sale reconciliation, and investor exposure analytics. You will work independently and manage your own workload, with the support of the broader Enterprise Intelligence team behind you.

What You’ll Do:
Data Analysis & SQL
  • Write, read, and improve complex T-SQL against existing objects — stored procedures, views, and transformation logic — finding gaps, fixing flawed logic, and strengthening the code you inherit.
  • Investigate data discrepancies and reconciliation variances (such as Gain on Sale), tracing issues back through the data to their root cause.
  • Apply analytical judgment to question the data: knowing when a number looks wrong, why it might be wrong, and what to check before it reaches the business.
  • Translate capital markets business questions into clean, reusable, maintainable SQL and BI assets.
ETL & Pipeline Maintenance
  • Maintain and monitor existing ETL processes and data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Factory, ensuring they run reliably and produce accurate results.
  • Apply a working understanding of ETL principles to troubleshoot pipeline failures, data freshness issues, and load discrepancies — and to make targeted improvements where needed.
  • Work within the Microsoft Fabric platform (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Notebooks) and Azure SQL to support the capital markets data layer.
Reporting & Power BI
  • Build and own Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models that surface risk exposure, pipeline position, investor program tracking, and P/L metrics for the capital markets team.
  • Provide guidance on how business process elements (e.g., grouping a date by month rather than showing a raw date) should be structured in the data model to drive meaningful insight.
  • Support both real-time and longer-cycle reporting needs, including the tools necessary for Daily P/L reporting and fair market value vs. mix shift exposure analysis.
Business Partnership
  • Work directly with capital markets stakeholders to understand their goals and proactively determine how data and reporting can better support them.
  • Serve as the analytical point of contact for investor integration efforts, helping ensure new investor elements such as program codes are correctly mapped and maintained.
  • Participate in the Automation Task Force as the Capital Markets representative, contributing to initiatives that reduce manual effort and error rate.

What You’ll Need
Required
  • 5+ years of professional experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a closely related data role.
  • Advanced SQL skills are the core requirement: the ability to step into unfamiliar, existing SQL objects, understand the logic, identify problems, and improve the code independently.
  • A strong analytical mindset — comfortable questioning data, validating results, and digging into discrepancies rather than taking numbers at face value.
  • A working understanding of ETL principles and experience maintaining data pipelines.
  • Power BI development experience, including report and dashboard authoring and semantic model design.
  • The ability to work independently and self-manage a workload, while collaborating closely with both the business and the Enterprise Intelligence team.
  • High-speed internet for remote work — cable or fiber only, with an Ethernet connection. Minimum speeds: 70/30 Mbps (basic), 200-300/35-70 Mbps (shared), 500-1,000/100+ Mbps (heavy use).
Preferred
  • Experience in mortgage banking is strongly preferred; direct capital markets experience (Gain on Sale, hedging, Daily P/L, investor reporting, secondary marketing) would be ideal.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Notebooks) and Azure SQL.
  • Experience leveraging AI tooling to improve data workflows.
  • A degree in a quantitative, technical, or business field is a plus but not required.
  • High-speed internet required for remote work, Cable or Fiber ONLY with the ability to connect via Ethernet. Minimum speeds: 70/30 Mbps (basic), 200-300/35-70 Mbps (shared), 500-1,000/100+ Mbps (heavy use).
