A mid‑sized law firm is seeking a detail‑oriented Docket Clerk to support the firm’s calendaring and litigation teams. This full‑time position focuses on maintaining accurate deadlines, reviewing court activity, and ensuring timely updates to the firm’s centralized calendaring system.

The Docket Clerk will be responsible for reviewing court filings, monitoring case activity, and entering critical dates into the firm’s docketing system. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment. The position works closely with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure accurate and reliable calendaring.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate calendaring and docket entries using the firm’s centralized docketing software.
  • Review court filings and incoming documents to identify, calculate, and calendar key deadlines.
  • Retrieve court documents and update docketing records and case databases.
  • Monitor court dockets for new activity and ensure all deadlines remain current.
  • Run and distribute docketing and calendar reports as needed.
  • Conduct docket and case research using online court resources and internal tools.
  • Support attorneys by tracking deadlines, filings, and scheduling details.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff regarding docketing procedures and deadline inquiries.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
  • Perform additional administrative or docketing duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least two years of docketing or calendaring experience in a law firm or legal environment.
  • Experience using docketing or calendaring software systems.
  • Strong understanding of court rules, filing procedures, and general calendaring requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a high‑volume environment.
  • Strong research skills and familiarity with online court resources.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime or weekends based on department needs.
