Analyst Institute is seeking an Analyst to join our Research Team. You will work alongside a collaborative group of researchers and analysts with backgrounds in social science, data science, and statistics to produce rigorous research that supports organizations across the ecosystem. The team’s work focuses on generating credible evidence and translating it into clear, actionable insights for practitioners.
We are aiming for this role to start in early July and will accept applications through June 5th.

Research and analytics are central to Analyst Institute’s mission. As an Analyst, you will be part of a highly skilled team working with campaigns and partner organizations to design and analyze research that answers practical, high-stakes questions. This role combines statistical analysis, data management, and applied research in real-world settings.
- Prepare, randomize, and analyze experiments that directly measure the effectiveness of real-world programs
- Analyze and review implementation data from experiments and programs as they are conducted
- Conduct and visualize a range of quantitative analyses, including observational studies and exploratory landscape analyses
- Wrangle real-world data using R, SQL, and other tools
- Contribute to the maintenance of Analyst Institute’s collaborative codebase
- Help Analyst Institute responsibly and effectively integrate generative AI capabilities into our analytical workstreams (e.g. supporting qualitative data analysis, automating software development stages)
- Draw from more than a decade of experimental results to create broad lessons for the community
Requirements

- Is motivated to apply data and research to support mission-aligned causes
- Is committed to working with those representing historically marginalized communities in an equitable and inclusive manner
- Has experience working with a wide range of data and statistical methods (e.g., through coursework, projects, or professional work), ideally in R
- Has familiarity with experimental design and basic causal inference concepts
- Has a demonstrated ability to stay organized and work through complex projects with firm deadlines
- Works effectively both independently and in small, collaborative teams
- SQL or experience querying and working with relational databases
- Programming in Python or similar languages
- Version control (e.g., Git) and collaborative coding practices
- Command line or shell scripting in a Unix/Linux environment
- Experience with observational, qualitative, or mixed-methods research
- Survey design, fielding, or analysis
- Exposure to predictive modeling or machine learning approaches
- Experience with digital or campaign analytics (e.g., analyzing web, email, or social media performance)
- Creating clear, client-facing analyses, reports, and presentations
- Strong data visualization skills and grasp of associated best practices
- Familiarity with political data, campaigns, or voter file data
This role has no formal education requirements; we value demonstrated ability (including personal projects) over educational background.

- Location: This is a fully remote position. Our team works across the continental United States, and our internal culture is designed to support remote collaboration. Candidates must be based in the continental U.S. This role may require occasional travel for trainings, convenings, or team events.
- Start date: We expect a preferred candidate for this position to start on July 6. This is a full-time, exempt position.
- Compensation range: Salary commensurate with skills and experience, from $56,240 to $74,240
- Benefits: These include 100% premium-covered health care and 99% covered dental and vision care; 50% covered dependent health, dental, and vision care; generous paid time off; 401(k) matching; disability and life insurance; twelve weeks paid parental leave (including for the birth, adoption, or fostering of a child); home office stipend; and professional development stipends for self-directed growth.
