Position Summary
The Logistics Specialist – LATAM is responsible for managing assigned shipments from the time the load is entered into the system through final delivery in the country of destination.
This customer-facing role coordinates end-to-end export shipments, including inland transportation, plant and freezer pickups, drayage, port deliveries, ocean freight bookings, vessel schedules, and final delivery coordination. The role also manages freezer and warehouse instructions, USDA export inspection requirements, health certificate review, and compliance with destination-country import regulations.
The position maintains accurate shipment information, manages each load within the approved logistics budget, and provides proactive communication to customers, traders, suppliers, carriers, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned export shipments from order entry through final delivery.
- Serve as the primary logistics contact for assigned customers and traders.
- Provide timely updates regarding order status, bookings, delays, estimated delivery dates, and shipment issues.
- Respond to customer inquiries and professionally manage delivery concerns or service issues.
- Coordinate product availability, production completion dates, pickup schedules, and shipping requirements with suppliers.
- Schedule plant and freezer pickups, inland transportation, drayage, port deliveries, and ocean shipments.
- Request, secure, and manage ocean bookings based on customer delivery requirements.
- Monitor carrier schedules, documentation and port cutoffs, sailing dates, transshipments, arrival dates, and final delivery.
- Coordinate export clearance activities with freezers and warehouses, including providing shipping instructions and arranging required USDA export inspections.
- Review health certificates and ensure shipment documentation complies with destination-country import and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain complete and accurate shipment information in SAP and all internal tracking systems.
- Manage each load within the approved logistics budget and identify potential cost overruns.
- Minimize avoidable expenses, including detention, demurrage, storage, layovers, and missed appointments.
- Coordinate with the Documentation team to ensure export documentation requirements and deadlines are met.
- Work with carriers, ocean lines, suppliers, warehouses, freezers, customers, and service providers to resolve operational issues.
- Escalate delays, regulatory concerns, documentation discrepancies, and additional costs to traders and management.
- Confirm final delivery and ensure shipment records are complete and properly closed.
- Three or more years of experience in logistics, transportation, order management, international trade, or supply chain.
- Experience coordinating export, ocean freight, drayage, and international shipments.
- Understanding of USDA export inspections, health certificates, and destination-country import requirements.
- Full professional fluency in both English and Spanish, written and spoken, is required. Intermediate proficiency will not be considered.
- Strong customer service, communication, problem-solving, and cost-management skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers and manage difficult or time-sensitive situations.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with SAP Business One or a similar ERP system preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, logistics, international trade, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
