The Anoka County Attorney’s Office has an immediate opening for Assistant County Attorney who will perform various duties. This position will work within the Anoka County Attorney’s Office Civil Division which is responsible for legal and advisory services as prescribed by the County Attorney to effectively represent the County. Attorneys may be assigned to advise County departments and/or law enforcement in areas including employment, purchasing, drafting and enforcing contracts, administrative appeals, collections, probate, legal compliance, litigation, appellate issues, and data practices.
This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid position. Interviews will take place the week of May 18, 2026 for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

Most work is conducted on site at the Anoka County Government Center and attached Courthouse.
Expected work hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Schedule may vary based on business needs and supervisory approval.
Occasional extra hours and evening hours are required.
Responsibilities
~1 min readGraduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Minnesota
Successfully complete a background investigation
Nice to Have
~1 min readCompletion of paid Court of Appeals, Federal or District Court Judicial Clerkship
Experience in effective presentation of cases to a court, arbitrator, referee, mediator, tribunal, or other finder of fact, including rules of court and evidence
Experience conducting legal research and data analysis
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with clients, coworkers, and others
Using technology in everyday practice
Standard office environment, courtrooms, travel to various county work sites and meetings as needed
Work activities may require contact with uncooperative, angry, and sometimes hostile clients depending on assignment
Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades and brightness
Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds
Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities
Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work
Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs.
Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment
Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle
