Support Production Supervisors in leading and coordinating unionized work groups across multiple departments to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely production of quality products. This role provides frontline leadership assistance, improves cross-functional coordination, and helps maintain compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Responsibilities

    • Assist in supervising daily operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
    • Provide floor-level support across multiple production departments to ensure continuity of operations.
    • Help monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and escalate issues impacting production schedules.
    • Ensure adherence to standard work, quality requirements, and production processes.
    • Support daily labor scheduling and staffing adjustments in alignment with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
    • Provide guidance and reinforcement of work rules, policies, and contract provisions.
    • Assist in tracking attendance, overtime, and staffing needs across departments.
    • Reinforce a strong culture of safety and ensure compliance with all company and regulatory standards.
    • Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
    • Promote safe work practices and immediately address unsafe conditions.
    • Assist with training, onboarding, and skills development of union employees.
    • Support coaching efforts and help address employee performance concerns.
    • Maintain positive working relationships and support employee engagement initiatives.
    • Partner with Production Supervisors, Production Control, and other departments to ensure materials and resources are available to meet production goals.
    • Communicate effectively across shifts and departments to maintain workflow continuity.
    • Assist in implementing process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives.
    • Help maintain accurate production records, labor tracking, and reporting.
    • Support KPI tracking related to safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency.
    • Assist with documentation related to employee actions, training, and compliance.
    • 2–3 years of manufacturing experience; prior leadership or lead/step-up experience preferred
    • Exposure to unionized environments and basic understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreements preferred
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work across departments
    • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and shop floor operation
    • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (Plex experience a plus)
    • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing principles preferred 
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

    Requirements

    • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including production floor exposure.
    • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility during the shift.
    • Occasional lifting consistent with production floor requirements.
    • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
