Junior Software Engineer - Java

The Chief Technology Office leads Appian’s technology strategy, partnerships, and acquisitions. We often work interdepartmentally, partnering with Product Management, Sales, Marketing, and Engineering to influence the product roadmap, prototype new technologies, and develop technology partnerships.

This role is aimed at a Graduate with 1 or 2 years total experience.

As a Software Engineer working within the CTO team, you will work across the global Product and Engineering teams to design, build, and test features that expand the scale and scope of the Appian platform. You will jump between Appian low-code, plug-ins, and the internal codebase, prototyping innovative features that ultimately impact Appian’s product vision. This is a fast-paced role that blends traditional software engineering excellence with the opportunity to work directly with new and emerging technologies.

This role is based at our Chennai Office in Brigade World Trade Centre. Appian was built on a culture of in-person collaboration, which we believe is a key driver of our mission to be the best. • Previous industry software development experience and/or internships.
• Practiced knowledge of programming concepts and best practices, and the ability to leverage these to write software in a full-stack web and mobile environment.
• The ability and desire to design features of increasing sophistication in small, tightly integrated, and highly-skilled teams
• A self-starter who works well with ambiguity, takes ownership, and consistently delivers in fast-moving environments.

• B.S. in Computer Science or related field/degree. 
• Experience with React, JavaScript, Java, and Python.
• Experience with using open source software and Git.
• Ability to learn and implement new technologies in a fast-paced environment. 
• Command over written and spoken English with strong communication skills.
