The salary range for this position is between $45,000 - $55,000 depending on experience, education and licensure.

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field required.
  2. Licensure: Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate or Non-Tax license with expertise in assigned area
  3. Experience: Previous experience in a special education environment preferred.
  4. Other: A valid driver's license with approved driving record(less than 6 points), personal transportation and insurance, if required to drive on behalf of the agency
AGENCY SUMMARY
Applewood Centers is a private, nonprofit agency providing mental health services, social services and education to children, adolescents and families living in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties. Dedicated to addressing a variety of behavioral, emotional and learning problems, we provide a continuum of care from outpatient counseling to residential treatment. 

JOB SUMMARY
The Gerson and Reserve School Teachers plan and teach up to six (6) classes per day, during the school year in a special education setting. In addition to the classroom teaching, the Teacher’s duties include maintaining direct contact with students, parents/guardians, mental health professionals and home school district representatives. The Teacher is also responsible for maintaining detailed student records in compliance with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce standards. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Plan and teach assigned classes as assigned by Principal.            
  2. Advise, mentor, guide assigned students as outlined in position summary.
  3. Communicate with parents/guardians, mental health professionals, and home school districts with consistent updates regarding students’ progress or issues that arise.
  4. Extend and support therapeutic ideals and goals of the Applewood Educational Services.   
  5. Collect data on academic, social and behavioral goals as indicated by Intervention Specialists and/or Principal.                                                       
  6. Substitute for absent staff as needed.                                         
  7. Cooperate with the educational team regarding planning, decisions and execution of IEP's made in conjunction with the student's home district representative.                                                  
  8. Complete Progress Reports and other required documentation in a timely manner.             
  9. Keep all required trainings, certifications and licensure current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.                                                              
                                               
OTHER DUTIES:
  1. Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
  2. All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  3. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  4. Other duties as assigned by management.
