The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of accounting and financial support tasks to ensure accuracy and efficiency in daily operations. This role involves managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, billing reviews, and financial reporting while ensuring compliance with company policies and healthcare industry standards. The Accounting Specialist plays a vital role in supporting financial integrity, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and streamline accounting processes.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Process and record accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and on time.
- →Review and verify invoices, billing statements, and payment details for accuracy and compliance.
- →Assist in reconciling account balances, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining up-to-date financial records.
- →Support billing and collection activities, including payment posting, adjustments, and follow-ups.
- →Ensure compliance with HIPAA, GAAP, and company accounting policies.
- →Handle data entry and documentation of all financial transactions in the accounting system.
- →Identify and report process gaps or discrepancies and recommend improvements for accuracy and efficiency.
- →Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling all member, provider, and financial data.
- →At least 2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial support, preferably in a BPO or healthcare setting.
- →Strong understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
- →Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or SAP.
- →Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- →Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.
- →Willing to work onsite or hybrid, including flexible or shifting schedules as required.
- →High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration and accounting or a related field preferred.
- →Certifications or training in medical terminology or healthcare systems are an advantage.
