About the Role

ArangoDB's public sector business is growing, and we need a Senior Customer Solution Architect who owns the post-sale technical relationship for a portfolio of strategic accounts. You partner with the Federal Account Director and the pre-sales Solutions Engineer to take signed customers from kickoff to durable production value, then expand the footprint as new mission use cases emerge.

This is a senior individual contributor role. You are expected to operate independently inside complex government programs, work through program office dynamics, and bring technical depth that earns the trust of senior government engineers, contractor architects, and program leadership. You also help shape how the Public Sector CSA function is built, since this is one of the early senior hires on the team.

The work spans architecture guidance, adoption planning, GraphRAG and knowledge graph design reviews, and the ongoing technical relationship with customers who often operate in air-gapped or restricted environments. Comfort working alongside cleared customer teams without holding a clearance yourself is required.

What You'll Do

Own customer technical outcomes

• Manage the technical health of a portfolio of strategic accounts after contract signature, including adoption, expansion, and renewal positioning
• Build durable relationships with government technical leads, contractor engineering teams, and program office decision-makers
• Translate mission requirements into ArangoDB and Contextual Data Platform architectures that hold up in production, not just in slideware

Drive adoption and expansion

• Lead architecture and design reviews for knowledge graphs, GraphRAG, agentic AI, and operational analytics workloads inside customer programs
• Run executive briefings and technical workshops for senior government engineers, program managers, and PEOs
• Identify expansion opportunities inside the program and partner with the Federal Account Director to position and close them

Bring technical excellence to the room

• Advise on AQL query design, SmartGraphs, Satellite Collections, deployment topology, and operational hardening for classified and high-assurance environments
• Build solution prototypes that prove out specific mission patterns before the customer commits engineering capacity
• Troubleshoot complex production issues alongside Support and Engineering, owning the customer-facing communication end to end

Build the function

• Document repeatable plays for strategic account adoption, then share them across the broader CSA and Federal teams
• Bring field signal back to Product and Engineering on what the public sector market needs Arango to do next

What You Bring

• 10+ years in technical customer-facing roles such as solutions architecture, post-sales consulting, principal customer engineering, or technical account management at a software vendor
• 5+ years working with DOD, Intelligence Community, or federal civilian customers, with a working understanding of how programs are funded, governed, and delivered
• Deep hands-on experience with at least one graph or multi-model database (ArangoDB, Neo4j, TigerGraph, JanusGraph, or comparable) and the data modeling tradeoffs that come with graph workloads
• Strong proficiency in SQL or a comparable declarative query language, plus working competency in Python
• Practical experience with at least one production GenAI pattern: RAG, GraphRAG, agentic workflows, or knowledge graph backing for LLM applications
• Comfort presenting to GS-14 and above, O-5/O-6 military equivalents, and senior contractor technical leads without losing the room
• Track record carrying strategic accounts through renewal and expansion, not just initial launch
• U.S. Citizenship, required by the nature of the customer base and applicable U.S. export control obligations
• Willingness to travel up to 25% to customer sites and internal Arango events

Required for This Role

• U.S. citizenship. This position supports customers operating in FedRAMP-authorized environments. Access to certain customer systems and data is restricted to U.S. citizens under the program's personnel requirements.
• Willingness to undergo a background investigation.
• Eligibility to obtain a public trust position if required by a specific customer engagement.

Nice to Have

• Direct experience with ArangoDB at scale, including AQL optimization, SmartGraph design, or datacenter-to-datacenter replication.
• Active or recent security clearance.
• Background in graph databases or knowledge graphs.
• Experience integrating LLM frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex with a graph or vector database in production.
• Familiarity with AI workload security and data governance in regulated environments.
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or equivalent depth of platform expertise.
• Contributions to open source database projects.

Logistics

• Fully remote within the continental United States.
• On-call rotation, with coverage shared across the public sector support team.
• Occasional travel of roughly 10 to 15 percent for customer engagements, internal team meetings, and federal industry events.
