Ardent is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to support the Federal Election Commission (FEC) in delivering IT support services across mission-critical applications and systems. This role provides technical leadership across development, maintenance, and modernization efforts, ensuring systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with federal standards. The Technical Lead will guide engineering teams, oversee architecture decisions, and support the continuous improvement of applications operating in a cloud-based environment. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across application support, maintenance, and enhancement activities.
  • Design and oversee architecture for Java (Spring, Tomcat) and .NET-based applications.
  • Ensure systems are properly maintained, patched, and compliant with security requirements.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex, high-priority production issues.
  • Support and optimize database environments including Oracle and PostgreSQL.
  • Guide development and operations within AWS cloud environments.
  • Oversee CI/CD pipelines, release management, and SecDevOps practices.
  • Ensure adherence to code quality, testing, and documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Support integration tools such as Informatica and reporting tools like Crystal Reports.
  • Participate in Agile processes and ensure work is properly tracked and prioritized (Jira).
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering team members.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, systems engineering, or application support environments.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Technical Lead or senior-level role guiding architecture and engineering teams.
  • Proven experience in a Technical Lead or senior engineering role supporting enterprise applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Java, Spring Framework, Apache Tomcat
    • .NET applications
    • SQL development and performance optimization
    • Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databases
  • Experience supporting applications in AWS or similar cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with SecDevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and secure development practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in complex, high-volume production environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple systems and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience supporting federal government or regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with Informatica and enterprise data integration tools.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports.
  • Understanding of federal security frameworks (e.g., FISMA, NIST).
  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
