The DSP, Personal Support Services will be committed to supporting the organization’s mission of ensuring quality support services are provided and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are both respected and afforded opportunities to choose and participate in and access community events, activities, and resources.

Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Support individuals in achieving their personal goals and fulfilling their dreams by having a “person-centered” focus
- →Teach independent living and daily skills to the persons-served by identifying and meeting social, environmental, and health care needs such as daily grooming and personal care routines
- →Actively plans, coordinates, and participates with residents in social activities including frequent community outings
- →Instructs, supports and participates in performing household tasks with persons served such as cleaning, preparing meals, food shopping, etc
- Is friendly, kind-hearted and has a positive approach toward life
- Gets along well with others
- Is passionate about the care and well-being of animals and strives to be a future veterinarian
- Would enjoy engaging in volunteer efforts that involve animals, as well as others
- Is very outgoing and loves visiting new places
- Enjoys taking walks for physical fitness and desires to be active in the community
- Was a former teacher's aide and enjoys math and reading
- Enjoys music, preferably country, R&B and some Hip Hop
- Will enjoy being active with person supported while engaging in community activities and events
- Will be resourceful in researching community activities, volunteer efforts and enjoy introducing new ideas
- Must have experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, along with patience, positive attitude, and positive coaching skills to assist the person supported with successfully reaching goals
Requirements

- Able to communicate effectively with the individuals to whom services are provided
- Should have experience working with people with intellectual disabilities or with other types of special needs populations
- Have patience and positive coaching skills to assist AM with successfully reaching his goals
- Enjoy being active and proactively partner with AM while engaging in activities, events and volunteer efforts of choice
- Will be resourceful in researching community activities, volunteer efforts, and enjoy introducing new ideas
