Who we need

Reporting directly to the Team Coordinator of the Finishing department, we are hiring a skilled and detail-oriented Spray Painter to join our product manufacturing team. In this hands-on production role, you will execute painting jobs end-to-end, including surface preparation, mixing coatings, spray application, and final quality inspection and cleanup.

As our new Spray Painter, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality finishes that meet strict standards for appearance, durability, and colour consistency. You will work with industrial spray equipment and surface preparation tools in a fast-paced environment where precision, consistency, and attention to detail are essential, contributing directly to product quality and continuous improvement.

This is a full-time hourly contract role (approximately 6 months), working day shift (7:30am–4:30pm Monday to Thursday, and 7:30am–2:00pm Friday), on-site at our Scarborough manufacturing facility, with potential for permanent employment depending on business needs.

What’s in it for you

Ownership and pride in your craft. This is a role for someone who takes pride in delivering high-quality surface finishes. You will build hands-on expertise in industrial spray painting, including surface preparation, masking, colour mixing, spray application, and finish quality inspection. You will develop speed, consistency, and technical confidence while working in a structured production environment where quality standards are clearly defined and expected. You will be part of a team that values accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, where your ideas to improve processes and finish quality are encouraged.

Skill development in a specialized trade environment. This is an opportunity to work in a production environment where you will learn directly from experienced team members and build capability in a highly practical trade. You will gain exposure to a range of coatings, substrates, and finishing requirements.

As our new Spray Painter, you will:

  • Prepare surfaces and materials. You will clean, sand, and mask components to ensure proper surface preparation and paint adhesion. You will mix paints and coatings to achieve accurate colour matches and consistent finishes, including adjustments for viscosity and application requirements.
  • Execute spray painting work. You will apply paint and coatings using spray equipment to achieve even coverage, correct thickness, and high-quality finishes. You will adjust spray settings and techniques based on material type and product requirements. You will identify and correct surface or finish defects such as runs, uneven coverage, or contamination.
  • Inspect and maintain quality standards. You will inspect completed work for defects and ensure all painted products meet internal quality standards. You will support collaboration with the quality and production teams to ensure consistency and alignment with specifications.
  • Maintain equipment and work area. You will perform routine cleaning and maintenance of spray guns, booths, and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. You will promptly report equipment issues or safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures. You will follow all WHMIS requirements and Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations, as well as company safety policies and procedures. You will ensure safe handling of paints, coatings, and hazardous materials at all times.

You have:

  • The background. You have several years of hands-on experience in spray painting, ideally in a manufacturing, automotive, industrial, or production environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional training or certification in spray painting or coatings is an asset. Experience in colour matching is preferred.
  • The technical skills. You are confident using spray guns, compressors, mixing systems, sanding tools, and masking materials. You understand surface preparation techniques and how they impact finish quality, adhesion, and durability.
  • The problem-solving skills. You can interpret work instructions, visual standards, and specifications to deliver consistent results. You are able to troubleshoot finish issues and adjust technique, equipment settings, or material application to correct defects.
  • The attention to detail. You take pride in producing clean, consistent, high-quality finishes. You are particularly strong in identifying surface imperfections and ensuring colour consistency and visual accuracy.
  • The organization and adaptability. You can manage multiple work orders, adjust to shifting priorities, and maintain focus in a fast-paced production environment. You are equally effective working independently or as part of a team.
  • The interpersonal skills. You communicate clearly and professionally and are open to feedback and coaching. You build effective working relationships with teammates, supervisors, and other departments to support production flow.
  • The flexibility. You are willing to work extended hours during peak production periods to support delivery timelines.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $24 - $25/hr. Compensation is thoughtfully determined based on your experience, skill set, and alignment with our internal compensation framework. We’re always happy to answer questions about compensation throughout the hiring process.

What you can expect from the interview process:

  • A virtual interview with a Talent Advisor discussing your interest in the role and the company. The conversation will be recorded using BrightHire, an AI-powered video interview tool. More details will be shared when you are invited to interview.
  • A one-hour in-person interview with the Team Coordinator, Plant Manager and HR Representative, where you will have an opportunity to share your technical experience and ask questions related to the role.
