Position Overview

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals requiring urgent or emergent treatment. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to respond quickly to life-threatening conditions, and a commitment to delivering compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.

• Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (days vary)

• Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct, individualized nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation)
• Rapidly assess and prioritize patients through triage based on acuity
• Recognize and respond to emergency and life-threatening conditions
• Administer medications using electronic health record (EHR) systems and barcode scanning
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Perform comprehensive assessments and reassessments for all age groups
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and prevention
• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant care environment
• Serve as a patient advocate while delivering compassionate, respectful care
• Assist with procedures and emergency interventions as needed
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff development

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) – required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required during orientation
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – required within 3 months
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – preferred
• Experience: Recent Emergency Department or Critical Care experience preferred

Employment Requirements
