OperationsDirector

The Senior Director, Field Services & Vendor Operations is a senior execution and leadership role responsible for owning, scaling, and evolving Solid’s vendor ecosystem across existing servicing business lines and newly launched field services offerings, including Single Family Rental (SFR).

To date, Solid’s vendor operations have been built to support institutional servicing clients with strong unit economics, compliance rigor, and execution discipline. As the business expands its service offerings, this role will play a critical part in standing up new execution models while continuing to professionalize and scale existing vendor operations.

This is not a steady-state optimization role. It is a hands-on leadership position for an operator who can move between strategy and execution, work deeply in the details, and help shape how new lines of business are launched and scaled, while maintaining high standards across an increasingly complex vendor ecosystem.

The role partners closely with the SVP of Operations and serves as a core member of the operational leadership team, alongside offshore and functional leaders. Together, this group prioritizes initiatives, sequences work, and drives execution across multiple fronts.

This role is designed for a high-ownership operator who is ready to take on meaningful scope and grow with the business. While initially focused on hands- on execution and building structure within a lean environment, the scope and influence of this role are expected to expand as Solid scales. This role carries full accountability for vendor performance, economics, and execution outcomes across existing and new service lines.

Solid is entering a new phase of growth that requires tighter operational ownership, faster execution, and increased leverage across its vendor ecosystem. As the company expands into adjacent field services opportunities, including SFR, vendor performance, cost discipline, and execution speed become even more critical. This role exists to elevate vendor operations from coordination to ownership, ensuring Solid can launch new offerings efficiently while continuing to deliver high quality results for existing clients.

The Senior Director role creates operational leverage for the organization by consolidating accountability for vendor performance, onboarding, pricing, compliance, and execution under a single leader who can move quickly and decisively.

In the first year, this role will focus on execution, foundation building, and selective scaling.

Key focus areas include:

  • Standing up and operationalizing vendor networks to support new field services offerings, including SFR, with an emphasis on speed, cost control, and execution quality
  • Strengthening vendor performance management across existing servicing business lines, including scorecards, escalation paths, and accountability mechanisms
  • Improving vendor onboarding, coverage management, and pricing workflows to reduce friction and improve scalability
  • Partnering with offshore leadership to clarify ownership, streamline workflows, and improve execution consistency
  • Supporting client onboarding readiness by ensuring vendor capacity, coverage, and execution standards are aligned prior to launch
  • Partnering closely with the SVP of Operations on prioritization, sequencing, and execution tradeoffs as the business evolves

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • Own the end to end vendor ecosystem across servicing and field services offerings, including sourcing, onboarding, coverage management, performance, and compliance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors while holding them accountable to defined service levels and cost expectations
  • Design and execute vendor strategies that balance speed, quality, and margin
  • Own vendor-level economics, ensuring pricing, service levels, and quality expectations align with margin objectives and scalable growth.
  • Lead vendor performance management efforts, including issue resolution, corrective action, and continuous improvement
  • Partner cross functionally with operations, finance, compliance, and technology to support scalable execution
  • Develop and refine vendor processes, tools, and documentation to support growth and operational clarity
  • Identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities within the vendor ecosystem and take ownership of resolving them
  • Spend meaningful time in the field with vendors and internal teams, including property walks, ride-alongs, training, and quality reviews to ensure standards are understood, executed, and continuously improved

Requirements

~1 min read
  • 8 or more years of experience in operations, field services, vendor management, or a related execution focused role
  • Demonstrated experience standing up or scaling operational programs, not just maintaining them
  • Strong understanding of vendor economics, performance management, and field execution dynamics
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and building structure without excessive process or bureaucracy
  • Proven ability to work cross functionally and influence outcomes without relying on formal authority
  • Experience in property services, inspections, preservation, maintenance, or related fields is a plus but not required
  • Ability to operate effectively within existing technology platforms and constraints, improving execution through process, discipline, and accountability while maintaining awareness of market alternatives
  • Comfortable spending time in the field, reviewing work product firsthand, and engaging directly with vendors in property-level environments
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support vendor onboarding, market launches, field reviews, and internal planning sessions. Travel intensity may increase during periods of business expansion.

The successful candidate will be a hands on operator who thrives in environments where execution matters more than perfection.

They will:

  • Take ownership quickly and reduce the need for micromanagement
  • Balance urgency with discipline, moving fast without sacrificing standards
  • Build trust with vendors and internal partners while holding firm on expectations
  • Create clarity and structure where ambiguity exists
  • Help Solid launch and scale new offerings confidently while strengthening existing operations
  • Be viewed internally as a reliable execution leader and thought partner to senior leadership
  • Think in systems and anticipate downstream impact on reporting, billing, service levels, and scalability before implementing solutions

The expected base salary range for this role is $125,000–$140,000. This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus. Total rewards include employer-sponsored life insurance, medical, dental and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with employer match, Flexible PTO, and reimbursement for approved business travel expenses. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
