ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Power Production Specialist / Barrier Technician for our ISS2 contact supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Wake Island. It’s a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule of 3 months on the island and one month off unpaid, Wake Island is 2,100 miles away from HNL. While working on-site housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility.  All meals are furnished through the cafeteria. You are responsible for the flight from your home base to HNL.  Transportation to wake island is provided by government sponsored aircraft.  This is a negotiated union position.   Essential Duties & Job Functions Power Generation Specialist is responsible for maintaining the electrical power production generators and auxiliary equipment in power generating stations and assists with the BAK-12 Aircraft arresting gear. Inspects and tests equipment and circuits to identify malfunction or defect, using wiring diagrams and test equipment such as ohmmeters, voltmeters. or ammeters. Repairs install, tests, and adjusts all safety relays, cables, breakers, motors, generators, transformers, switchgear and motor control panels. Operates emergency generators during power outages, prime power plant and load testing emergency generators on a monthly schedule. Analyzes electrical or mechanical problems and makes necessary repairs. Performs preventative maintenance and corrosion control of all power generating equipment. Assists with the operation and maintenance of BAK-12 Aircraft Arresting Gear. Performs other related work as assigned. Knowledge of solid-state and conventional control circuitry. Following, developing and implementing a viable safety/preventive maintenance program. Modifying/installing new equipment, including underground power cables. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Five (5) years' experience in power plant operation and maintenance. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English. Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries.  Must pass a background check, drug screening, fingerprints, and a fit-for-duty physical exam; candidates must be medically cleared for long-term residency in a remote location with limited access to healthcare. Preferred Qualifications Work experience in O&M services supporting a military base or civilian installation. BAK-12 MS task-certified power production 5 level (or higher skill level) journeyman, or the civilian WG- 5378 equivalent. Working knowledge (less than Journeyman) in electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and painting.
